I am 29 week pregnant. I went to see a doctor because I had terrible headache, swollen feet and hand. He concluded that those are signs of toxemia, and that happens during the pregnancy. Will my condition cause problems to my baby? Please tell me more about it. I am crying all the time.

Untreated toxemia can cause problems with the unborn baby, because it sometimes progress to convulsion. Since you have noticed the symptoms, your doctor will tell you how to treat it. It can be controlled at home if it is found early and doctor’s instructions are followed. The cause of toxemia is not known, be sure that you always checking your blood pressure.

Things can be stressful when you feel like your baby is in harms way especially when you think you can do nothing about it. However keep calm, do not stress yourself out, it increases your blood pressure and does not help your situation. Try your best to stay away from salty foods, eat as healthy as you can. drink lots of water. Make sure your are getting rid of as much fluids as you are taking in. relax and keep your feet up as much as possible, but do not sit for extended periods of time. Everything will work out well take things a step at a time and keep in touch with your health care provider.
