I have had the same issue with the rash. I was hospitalized 2 times. They said I have Strep infection in my body due to the fact that my limph noids dont work correctly from surgerys. I am now on antibotics indefinatly. Fine with that as long as the strep does not return. Hope your friend is doing better.
I had tram flap surgery August 2012. I have had the same rash you are talking about and have been hospitalized 2 times. I was told that it is a strep infection due to the removal of some lymph noides and the other surgeries that I have had. I have to stay on antibotics indefinatly. I am fine with that as long as the strep does not come back. It is like the worst flu in the world. Hope you are doing better and that my info helps.
Thank you so much for replying! I am the one with this horrible rash. I have broken out with it 8 times now since March. I had my double mastectomy and tram flap in June 2009. You are the only one who identified with my problem, now that you are on the antibiotics, is it gone? Does it come back at all? What antibiotic are you taking? Sorry for all the questions, but I want as much info as I can to share with my Dr. at my next appointment!
hi i had a trams flap in 93 after a mastectomy in 92 after returing to work per doctors instructions 6 weeks later and working at a physically demanding job i got a large buldge under the breast where the muscle was wrapped over to the other side my doctor that performed the trams flap told me it was a hernia and went in to fix it well low and behold i had healed scar tissue on outside but the incision had not healed on the inside and the incision ( wound) was weaping into the area where the muscle had been and got as big as a large grapefruit with a hard rind around it and it just had got bigger and bigger he had not installed a mesh to hold my abdominal wall in so after removing the fluid and the rinding he installed the mesh and the bulge away unfortunately now in 2013 the mesh is rotting and has inbedded itself in other organs i wish i had never had the flap done and would NEVER recommend it to someone else anad of course a flap cannot be redone to my knowledge once it is done i think u are stuck with it
Okay ladies, i had the tram flap done back in 1991, that's 22 years ago for me. Yes it does alter your body, every body handles it differently. Problems i seem to be having now is back pain, due to weaknees on one side. I have always tried to stay in shape and maintain the same weight. which i DO believe is a key element to success with this procedure. The operated side does fall a little more than natural side, which i don't like, but i am going to be 50 soon and i guess you can't look 27 forever. The reason I'm writing is because i want anyone having breasts re=done, make sure your aware of ALL consequences, short term and long term. I will honestly admit if i knew then what i know now i probably wouldn't of done it. See i was born without a mammary gland on left side, and left side never developed. Gotta tell ya high school was rough. You and your personality are way more giving to others than boobs. So with stating that, PLEASE use an educated decision before following through with any surgery, JUST to have breasts. Their not really what life is all about.
I have the same problem mine was done 7 years ago
I had TRAM Flap surgery in August of 2012. By late September, I had developed a huge abdominal bulge. Many doctors told me it was so large it couldn't be fixed. Luckily, I found Dr. Ron Israeli & Dr. George DeNoto who have developed a technique for repairing abdominal bulges and complications from TRAM Flap. I can give you their contact information if you contact me by email. They are the only ones in the states who perform this technique.
Please send me the info to your drs
I am interested in your drs.
hi ladies
I had a tramp flap in 2001 and we all seem to have the swelling on the right hand side where the mesh is placed, it doesa look bloody unsightly, this procedure can be prone to hernias,
the only problems i seem to be having some ten years after the procedure is stomach cramps and bouts of unexplained diarohrrea, with no explanation as to why this keeps happening, as its not food related. i am taken this to my medical team this week, to see if we can find a link to post op complications
Not sure i would have gone ahead with this procedure as it can fail, unfortunately a close friend of mind had the same op, and her tram flap procedure failed after the surgeona ttempted to reconnect a blood supply to her new breast, she sadly passed away.xxx
I have been searching for the past year for information on swelling, uncomfortable pressure I feel among several other symptoms 10 years post surgery using the Tramp Flap procedure. Yours is the first that is similar to what I am experiencing. I am going to see the Surgeon.
Hi
I live in Australia and had bi lateral tram flap and have a huge bulge and like many others told nothing could be done.
Can you please tell me if it was a costly procedure and how long the surgery was and how long you were in hospital.
I live in Australia so if you could give me some idea as I do not wish to contact Dr Israeli is the surgery would be to cost prohibative.
Kind regards,
Stephanie
I have the same problem as you have. I had the tram flap done in 2002 and now have had the bulge on my right side, the pain and the unexplained diaroherria, not to mention the terrible anxiety I get when it comes to eating.
I had this surgery in 2009. I look nine months pregnant. My stomach is usually hard. I feel full all the time and I have trouble breathing. Didn't have these problems before. I have gone to several doctors. The last one I saw informed me that the wall of my stomach was weak from the surgery. He said that it could be repaired with mesh. he said that I needed to lose weight first. This Trans Flap surgery is the worse surgery anyone could have. Of course, they tell you of good outcomes from this surgery, but not once tell you of this out come. I regret having this surgery and I have gained 50 pounds since I had the surgery and it is impossible to lose weight.
