You can take it from infected water or a wet infected object/cloth. You can take it from a swimming pool, from splatters in a toilet, from touching something infected and then touching your genital area, from sharing wet towels or underwear/bathing suits with infected friends/room-mates.
Wikioedia says: "Infection with Trichomoniasis through water is unlikely because Trichomonas vaginalis dies in water after 45–60 minutes, in thermal water after 30 minutes to 3 hours and in diluted urine after 5–6 hours." I actually find the data very disturbing. They mean that trichomonas can live for almost an hour in a swimming pool. Now imagine a crowded small swimming basin with only one ladder for getting out of the water. An diseased person can infect the water near the exit and transmit the parasite to other people very easily because everyone will swim in the same area at a certain moment. This does not mean that you will certainly get the parasite but there are some chances.
