I have this exact problem. All my tests come back normal, but still have lots of discharge, itching, and smell. Antibiotics and home remedies have done nothing.

This is smegma young man, and your father should have instructed you to pull back your foreskin and wash with a mild soap like Ivory. You will notice the smell disappear after a few washes. If it persists, drop a few drops of Tea Tree oil on a facecloth and wash with that. Smegma has a purpose, as all things do, but a young male coming into puberty needs to be taught the proper hygiene of an uncircumcised male.

The problem with this dilemma is that without knowing it, it id often the woman who is the culprit. You [women] may not smell fishy to yourself, but when a male enters you from behind, we often get an initial "blast" of the air in the females vagina due to the piston effect, and it's not a nice smell. The biggest culprit for BV is not sex, it's fragrance in soaps, laundry detergent and the worst -- fabric softener. These chemicals cause the vagina to go to war so-to-speak, and the result is discharge and odor (BV). The other causes of BV in a woman being latex condoms and plastic vibrators. Phenol (plastic) is not s natural substance (use glass). Everything on a woman's body is inward, therefore more susceptible to infection ie Candida Yeast. Men's bodies are built to go weeks without showering or bathing as our parts are all external. We are hunter/gatherers. Most MD's, myself included will encourage both parties "not" to play the "blame game" and treat both at the same time with Flagyl as already mentioned here. Most MD's do not have the knowledge of fragrance as a causative agent, so if you want it to stop permanently, remove all fragrances from touching your body. Use Tide Free. Bounce Free. The vagina's way of dealing with fragrance is to secrete antibodies to go after this chemical substance that is not supposed to be there. Result? Smell. Wear cotton panties only and it's best to sleep with no panties to allow air to stabilize the PH. This can become a viscous cycle if you choose not to locate the source as I have written as the woman will be back and forth to the doctor with BV, and then a Candida Albicans Yeast infection as a result of the antibiotics. This cycle will go on endlessly.

At the age of 50, this happened to me. A doctor gave me no good advise. Antibiotics didn't help long-term. Daily cleansing did not help. nor did alcohol or hydrogen peroxide. This bothered me for 10 YEARS, until I read about d-mannose, a simple sugar, that rapidly (in only a few hours) cleared up urinary tract infections. I assumed that was what the problem was, so I had nothing to lose. Bought some, took it with a big glass of water - 3 capsules morning and night, and by the next day the problem was gone. I had to take three caps one other time about a week later, but that's it. No more problem FINALLY. no more embarrassment; no more wondering. So, maybe the hygiene suggestions are good for some people, but I bet the majority of such cases are simply a persistent infection, accompanied by no symptoms other than the smell.

The d-mannose is more attractive to the bacteria than whatever they are feeding on in the lining of your bladder or whatever ( I read they are in the seminal pathways too). So, as the d-mannose is being eliminated from your system, the bacteria leave the linings of the organs they live on, attach to the d-mannose, and then they are trapped and can't return the their old haunts. They then get eliminated with the urine...or semen.

The stuff works like a champ. But since it's not a high-dollar pharmaceutical product, doctors don;t seem to know about it, or care to tell the average person, man or woman, about how quickly, without expensive tests or lab visits, the sugar will work.

Anyone with a history of bladder, or urinary tract infections should get some of this stuff.

I can tell u.. my bf has the smell right now, last 2 days. He says he hasn't done anything. But we are having some problems.. I'm really sad for you, when I first met him it was there all the time. He after I confronted him said its where he sweats so bad. I don't know anymore but I'm thinkin it's dangerous and I don't want nothing you know.

the topic is uncircumcized males smelling like fish..and yes they do sometimes, and not always giving anything to the lady.. a bad smell, on him and her hands. uncomfortable situation for all, if you say fishy to a doc they assume bv, etc. its a hormonal imbalance, some men and womans hormones just dont click and it messes it up. so yea its not blame, they all want to love and be open and clean in their relationship. no reason to be harsh.
my suggestion is make those appts together. go, talk and discuss and the doc usually can clear it up.. more times i would say its excessive sweat. my bf goes months with none then bam its back and its a terrible situation. take care, love each other, wash each other and go to your doctor regularly.. together.

For those that are still stumbling upon this question i'll give you my solution, use hand sanitizer to sterilize your penis every so often, it gets rid of the smell for a day or so - but be warned! It will sting and leave you with a burning sensation for a short while so i'd recommend getting the kind that has Aloe Vera in it. I've been happily doing this for a few months now without any known consequences but I can't guarantee that your penis won't fall off if you try it, so please do this at your own discretion.

Keeping it clean is probably the only answer. That's hard to do if you produce a lot smegma because it just begins coming back as soon you are done cleaning it.

I always cleaned it just before meeting my girl. I found that pulling my foreskin all the way back and cleaning it using cotton balls soaked in rubbing alcohol worked best. After I dried it off, it stayed clean for quite a while. When I had a steady girl who liked to handle it a lot she was quite willing to do the alcohol cleaning part herself.

You can not have anal sex and then allow the dirty penis back into your vagina. That can be the cause of the bacterial infection. It's common sense..you would think. Why do you think women are taught to wipe from front to back.

I have often had this same issue. I am very aware and sensitive to this issue and keep myself very clean.  I have found, that when I am well hydrated, the odor tends to be less.  I have brought it up to my GP, who tested my for the basic STD, STI and bacterial infections. All results were negative. For me, it seems I will simply just live with it. I have found, however, one no-fail technique to virtually eliminate any smell prior to a sexual encounter.  Simply use a bit of corn or vegetable oil ptior to showering. The oil absorbs any odor.

Women are NOT often the culprit. Many women have told me that they never have a smell until AFTER they have sex with a man. Then they have a fish like smell until they wash themselves. I have the same problem as other women...no odor until after sex. It is usually a problem with uncircumcised men, but can also occur with men who are "cut". Men are NOT built to go weeks without showering or bathing because your parts or all "external". That is such a misinformed notion. Men who haven't bathed for even a day get a smell on their penis. A man who hasn't bathed for weeks would smell like a dead bear.

Hi I have the same prob with my bf he has been do countless doctors and told most of the time there's nothing wrong with him, but he needs to shower more, well he does that everyday!! We were also told that we both have a yeast infection, but I have not symptoms and neither does he!! I thought he might have a bacterial infection of some sort and a doctor prescribed an antifungal cream to use twice a day for 2 weeks, well low and behold the smell went away! but it has come back again. We have both been tested for STD's and all negative results. He has had this smell since I met him and he is uncircumcised as well. It does interfere a bit with our sex life, but just dont know what to do anymore oh and also I have had bladder infection symptoms for months and have been on about 10 different antibiotics, but when he had that cream and no smell for 2 weeks my symptoms went away.

Me n my 3rd time around bf hve bn hvn sex for tha past few wknds..protected..I hve smelled tht fishy odor comin from him but its only after sex and he takes the condom off..I am so scared to hve unprotected sex wit him..I stopped talkn to him a few yrs ago Cuz I think he tried to slip the condom off..dnt wnt to smell fishy

If you let sperm dry on your penis after masturbation, tha's where your fishy smell is coming from.
Clean it after masturbation, use nistatine (nonistat) twice a day for a week.
