Solution:
- garlic:
eat 2 garlic cloves per day outside meals (early in the morning, mid-afternoon or/and before bed time).
Chew a lot to mix with saliva. It might be hot for your tongue and you will feel it go through all your digestive system, but it takes what it takes. It is also important to "wash" your mouth with your saliva before swallowing.
3 days should be enough. One week is unnecessary and you might fragilize your stomach.
why: helps to restore the bacterial balance of your digestive system.
- vita merfen: (if you notice that your anal region is all red and irritated)
every time after going to the toilets, wash with soft soap and applicated a visible layer of vita merfen.
This is a cream made "for little cutaneous lesions, burns of I and II degree, DISINFECTANT and cicatrizant, bedsore". Google it...
Don't irritated you skin to much by wiping excessively... wash!
Hours after the first application, it might smell weird. But from the second or third application, you will notice that even after hours, if you washed well after going to the toilets, it always smells vitamerfen. No more fish smell.
It is a little bit oily, but it will leave no trace on your clothes.
Be careful to change of clothes regularly!
It should take 3 days for the skin to take a normal color but I suggest you use the cream for a week. No risks for health anyway.
So: toilets -> don't wipe excessively -> wash with soap -> vitamerfen -> life -> toilets etc.
It works...

After yesterday eating pizza pizza, I had to go make a bowel movement and most came out then I thought I had something more to come out and I was forcing it out but nothing happened. After that I got up and a few drops started dripping from my anus. The drops looked orangish but a light toned and when I looked in the toilet, the feces looked orange, but I am sure the ones at the bottom weren't. I then wiped and noticed it was clear fluid that smelled really strange like fish stated above. I looked in the mirror and noticed that my anus was red when i squeezed. I do not know what this is. I probably bursted something from squeezing too hard so I will wait a few more days and I hope I don't have to make a bowel movement because that may help too.

Ok
I may be able to suggest something that can help. I struggle with exactly the same issues as you and the original poster. Leakage after a BM, it started around the age of 38 and was driving me nuts. Got checked out by specialists, they couldnt find anything wrong except that I clearly wasnt eating enough fiber. So I changed my diet, but nothing improved. Finally my GP said just take Metamucil daily, you can do it forever and it has the side benefit of lowering cholesterol. After all the drama, just one day of taking it and the leaking was completely gone.
My only regret is that this wasnt suggested two years ago.
Hope this helps.

WOW - Glad to have found this forum and topic and to know that I am not alone...
I just turned 49 and have had this issue for almost 2 years now...
I hate having a bowel movement because I know what is coming or going I should say...LOL...
I have been embarrassed to talk to my doctor about this or to tell my wife...I constantly wash out my underwear because of the "tracks"...
I was thinking I need to wear a diaper...
I know I donot eat properly...I am going to try the suggestions here about taking a probiotic and Metamucil and see if that helps...
Thanks and will post about the outcome...

I also wanted to add that, many times when I have a bowel movement, I do not feel like it is complete, but no other action is happening, so I wipe - usually using a lot of toilet paper...

I have had this problem on and off for a few years. It stopped after I had an operation to remove an abscess from colon due to Crohn's disease. It has since returned on occasion, I find that if I reduce the amount of sugar in m diet and take probiotics then it seems to diminish. It is accompanied by anal itching. I would suggest that you ask you doc about being tested for crohn's.

There are several reasons the body may generate an excessive amount of mucous (of the gastrointestinal tract) and one of these is in attempt to "flush out" and remove pathogens such as Candida albicans.
Hit up the probiotics guys. These are the good bacteria found in products like yoghurts and Yakult and act to inhibit pathogens, such as yeast, from binding to the intestinal mucosa. You can also buy probiotics in tablet form (ie, innner health plus) which have a greater microbe variety but these can burn a hole in the pocket and the bacteria/endospores are only viable for roughly 30 days after purchase.

Hi Everyone,
Pretty happy to find this thread. I had and have exactly the same of what most of you expressed, however , I tried different surgical procedures , all in vain.
Started at 40 (now I'm nearly 42) brown discharge along with blood (smelly as you say), mostly after bowl movement, but really it was continuous decreasing at night time time.
I went the "professor-colon specialist " who diagnosed me with a fissure, gave me an ointment for 6 weeks to rub my anus with, didn't work so recommended a surgery. what really annoyed me is when I asked him abotu my diet , he said , "you can eat everything". This is not true, food affects body.
So I went to the fissure operation , paid about 3500 AUD, being promised that me turmoil will end in 6 weeks time, only it didn't. The blood stopped but the brown discharge continued.
I am talking about a very well know colon specialist in Sydney. Then he sent me to do a test to my anus muscle, checking if its if normal. and yes it turned Ok.
Then he started a guessing game, every time injecting my anus with some lubricant, also yet to no avail, this thing didn't stop.
Then I went to another specialist, yes long story, he diagnosed that I have a fistula , and recommend a surgery, and I did it. --This time I was on Health insurance so paid nothing. Also promised that in six weeks all will be good. And...
I didn't. Now (16/1/2010) marks the 6th week after that "successful surgery" and all still the same.
So the "specialist" is now suggesting that it might be something else , not the fistula, may be the way I sit or so, which I take -excuse me - as a c**p talk. Why did he do the surgery if it is something else?
I tried before using metamucel (fibre grains) didn't make much difference.
We focus on healthy food at home (lots of vegetables and fruit and minimal junk). I drink lots of juice. I take one coffee and one tea per day. I don't take much sugar.
This is becoming also embarrassing with my kids who noticed that I have health problems.
For everyone's -of us - sake I will summarise all the recommendations put forward by all of you and then I will say on which diet I will go for two weeks , then I will post the results. Please some again and post your comments:
Recommend by you: -excuse me for not using proper punctuation, just need to type this as fast as possible.
-clean with soft paper, don't wipe use spot cleaning. don't leave water after cleaning -might enhance bacteria growth.
- -cranberry juice and garlic (twice a day and chew)
- B12 vitamin
- take a shower after 1/2-hour of toilet and clean with sensitive-skin soap like Dove .
- take fibre pills with food
- no coffee or sugary drinks (juice, coke etc...)
- be careful about antibiotics
- take Florajen, a Probiotic. like Florastor
- colon cleanse
- do a test for crohn
- yoghurts and Yakult are good.
-vita merfen: (if you notice that your anal region is all red and irritated)apply a visible layer of vita merfen.
I will do the following for two weeks:
-reduce coffee to bare minimum (when I feel I will sleep at work!) :-)
- No juice.
- metamucil cup in the morning.
-daily cranberry juice and garlic (I went 9.30 pm yesterday to Coles to buy those after I read this post).
- spot cleaning after bowel movement with sensitive soap and leave no water on the anus.
Please come again , I will post the results in about two weeks time, I might even post before the progress of my situation.
I am not ashamed, happy to provide my email , if any wants want to discuss further. I will not be visiting any doctor unless I am convinced I need to do so. They are as commercial as the mechanics.
Hope this helps us

A lot of other people seem to be struggling with the same thing.
I would be interested in hearing your results! Im currently trying probiotic Yakult..but its certainly not helping, if anything it could be a little worse. So now im thinking could it be a lactose intolerance. It all started for me I think after I took painkillers for a broken foot. Other people seem to look back at when they took antobiotics.

Hi,
I have been following the above mentioned diet for about one week and half, (garlic and cranberry juice, please click back or on this link for more details:
https://www.steadyhealth.com/uncontrolled_discharge_from_anus_after_bowel_movement-t75278-0-asc-20.html
Within one week I had the following results:
1- the need to go to toilet for Bowel discharge stopped. I am now going to toilet once per day.
2- After doing the bowel discharge, the brown discharge continues for 4-5 hours, and then after I clean it , it stops for most of the day.
For me , this is a great achievement, since I didn't had any hour of cleanness before. Now, I am having more than 8 hours of clean anus daily.
I need to mention that also I am jogging for about 15 mins daily.
I will keep on the same diet and post the result progressively . I have to admit that I dislike taking garlic , but If this is medecine , I will go ahead with it. I will post again later.

The problem is definately linked to diet. It started fro me years ago after I had my appendix removed. I was given a massive dose of antibiotics and soon started having problems. I would go through phases of eating well and then eating healthy (and there is a big difference). I started a new eating plan which excluded all wheat, sugar and reduced carbs. Within a few weeks, the results were there. Not only was there no discharge, but I felt a lot healthier too. I also discovered a taste for Cranberry Juice...
Unfortunately my old eating habits returned and the problem has started again.
I have seen a lot of reports about the Cranberry and Garlic remedy and believe there may be some truth to effects of the these. I did not take much garlic last time I changed my diet, but I was drinking about a litre of cranberry juice a day.
I think that if you think back to when you firts started to experience a discharge, you may well find that you were on some sotr of antibiotic at the time and you also had a change in your diet.
I've gone back to my healthy eating plan and stocked up on cranberry juice. I'll keep you all updated.

Just before it started for me, I broke my foot and was taking strong medicine for a couple of weeks to reduce swelling and relieve pain.
This also happened just as I moved to another country and changed my diet by eating a lot less bread and a lot more pasta and having cereal rather than the usual toast and sandwiches. I have altered many things in my diet but cant quite put my finger on exactly what it is.
