Heya - did you ever find a solution to this problem? I have now had the same issue for 12 months, following a 5 day course of antibiotics (Clindamycin) for an infected tooth.
No one seems to be able to help me.

I don't engage in anal sex, nor do I have small bumps or mucus looking discharge, the discharge is clear with a tint to it.

I am a 50 yr old female. Had to take strong antibiotics 2 years ago, anal itching all around behind started soon after. Was told by my primary care doctor that I needed a surgery for hemorrhoids, but did not believe it because the only small bump I have there never itched or hurt. I am very thankful to those who posted. I started taking Florastor 3 days ago and see some improvement. I am not 100% certain yet because I have been through ups and downs and want to wait for at least 3-4 months before I give it thumbs up. What I wanted to share is that Florastor is the only probiotic that I found that is not based on lacto bacteria. It is made from plants and is restoring good fungus our intestine needs. My thinking is that in addition to Florastor you need to take other lacto probiotics to fully restore flora in your gut after antibiotic wiped it out.

well i started to have the same leakage trouble, went to see my doctor and we decided to do a colonoscopy, so that was done today 2/2/12, i had one 10 years ago and it was fine, this time was a real pain drinking 64oz of that powder mixed with gatoraid, yuck, but they did the colonoscopy and it was fine he did say the leakage problem is caused by my svinta muscle being weak, im 60 yrs old, and i do have back trouble and leg problems due to diabetes so another dr. trip to see if we can strengthen the muscle,

So I went to the doctor today and he thinks the leakage is due to possible fissures, herd this before. He gave me a similar cream to what the last doctor gave me, and he said if it doesn't work in two weeks he would like to cauterize them shut. Does this sound like it would be a fix?

I've tried everything listed here with no change or improvement. My leakage started after naval hernia surgery that didn't heal right. I had internal bleeding that left a large hematoma, and not just skin brusing, but two and a half cups of blood filled a sack that formed in my stomach. It had to be drained twice. But, it was pressing on my intestines for a couple of months. The doctors didn't do anything about the formation of this blood sack until I got serious and had an outside CAT scan done. When they say the size of the sack of blood then they drained it. But, during that time, I think I was damaged. I do exercise and am generally healthy, though much older than some of you. I am 50 years old. The only thing that helps me is to take two to three immodium tablets, all at once, which will keep me pretty dry for a day or some times, two. Other than that, everything else seems to be normal. Had the colonoscopy and am scheduled for another one this month. It really is a gross problem and does weigh heavily on your self-worth and confidence. I've searched the web and never found any good or telling information, at all!

Wow....I've had this same problem for around 3 years. While I cannot recall the specific timeframe of events that led up to it, I DID go to the dentist and did take Clindamycin following a root canal around 3 years ago, and antibiotics for a sinus infection. I also caught a bad case of food poisoning after that right around the same time. The issues started AFTER the food poisoning when I was trying to gain back weight lost and was eating a lot of food and weight gain shakes at the time. It started as a painful, itching, burning sensation just at the end of the anus. It got progressively worse and I could barely walk comfortably. It was worse following bowel movements and I would have to wipe several times for a couple hours following a bowel movement. Since then, three years ago, it has not been as extreme, but it is a part of my every day life and never has gone away. I've been to a couple doctors, taken blood tests, a colonoscopy, tried fiber drinks, suppositories, and natural supplements to no avail. The common cause of this seems to be the antibiotics. The only problem here is that there seems to be NO treatment. Doctors really do not acknowledge it either. I guess this thread will keep getting longer with people with the same condition.

It's the same for me, female & 59. Has started to keep me inside, have you found a solution since I haven't seen any posts from you lately. I'm going to try the garlic, cranberry juice and Florastor. Maybe. This is a strange thing to say but now at least I'm not a lone in this insanity. Thanks for being so honest.
