I turned 50 and my PCP wanted my to have a colonoscopy...I had a visit with that doctor today and my procedure is scheduled for 7/12...I told this doctor of my problem and he stated that he will take several biopsies when he does the colonoscopy...
I plan to show him this thread and maybe he can get to the bottom of this issue...
My issue is not the smelly fishy discharge, but that of it appearing that I have not wiped after a bowel movement and have to continually clean myself...
I have been using the B-Sure Anal Pads from Birchwood Laboratories to help save my underwear and give me a bit of confidence from soiling...
Will keep you all posted...

Hi there,
I've been reading a lot of the posts and my issue, while similar may or may not be caused by something else. I'm currently 7 months pregnant and have noticed I've been leaking fluid from anus for the past couple of weeks. Sometimes it's been visibly brown, like I didn't wipe properly. I mentioned it to my midwife a few days ago and she seemed concerned I may have some damage to the anal sphincter (as a result of pregnancy). As with many who have posted here, I don't engage in anal sex. However, I do experience constipation sometimes and have done for years on and off. But I've never had this before.
Two months ago I experienced insane diarrhea, which is uncommon for me, but I realized it was caused from eating too much pasta. I have a mild gluten intolerance (but can eat bread etc). So, I'm wondering if my mild gluten intolerance has become worse and means that something in my diet is unable to be absorbed and is instead going straight through.
I read someone else's post that indicated that the problem may be related to hemmroids. I'm pretty sure I've had one at least once during my pregnancy and once before. If not that, then a fissure.

Hi everyone,
You can probably guess that finding this site has been so very helpful.Recently my hubby has been troubled with leaking from his rectum following BM.I felt so sorry for him,he was quite distressed by it all.I decided to trawl the internet for information and ended up here.I showed him all the replies, and this gave him the confidence to see his GP.Today he was examined and told that he's leaking mucus, caused by piles.Surgery is a bit drastic,so we'll be keeping a food diary and doing the detective work.He was advised to use baby wipes instead of toilet paper,so that's next on the shopping list.On another website, someone uses cotton wool balls for padding instead of folded toilet paper...they remain in place and are more discreet. Also, for the brave folks who need the "hot spot" cooling...another tip.Fill a disposable latex or similar type of glove with water, tie it up and freeze. When frozen, snap off an ice finger, removing it from the glove and insert into the bottom like a suppository. Not tried that yet,so can't comment on how well or otherwise it works.
It's so good to realise that we are not alone with this problem,so thanks to all of you who post...you've made us feel better already.
And for Juicy...I've never been fortunate enough to be pregnant, but from friends who have,I understand that piles are quite common for expectant ladies.Pressure from the extra weight carrying your precious cargo and all sorts of stuff associated with pregnancy can be causing you this discomfort.I'd say...trust your midwife, tell her your worries. That's what she's there for.And good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and birth.
Somewhere further back in this thread,a gentleman was thinking of using yogurt, but didn't fancy the thought of applying it.Many years ago it was popular to use it to soothe symptoms of vaginal thrush. It was recommended that a tampon be dipped into the (plain) yogurt, then inserted. This was a problem..as soon as said tampon...not the cardboard encased variety...was dipped into the yogurt,it swelled up and was never going to go where i'd intended! So I used a clean flannel.poured a dollop onto the cloth and applied it to the very sore and delicate area.Best done over the bath or shower,as it can get messy. But very soothing, especially if you take the yogurt straight from the fridge.I'm sure it would be just as soothing applied to the rectum.
Sorry to waffle on,hope this has been of help to someone.
