I am a 28 year old male. I have been to my doctor several times for what seems to be a gastrointestinal disorder, but I haven't been able to fix it. Approximately five to seven months ago, I began experiencing difficulty defecating. Just minor difficulty, with some rectal itching and soreness. Eventually I developed what feels like a blockage in my lower left abdomen, with pronounced bloating in my belly region. At first I thought it was just gas, but it stuck with me. I was prescribed ciprofloxacin and didn't eat solid foods for a couple days. I also changed my diet drastically, from eating and drinking pretty much whatever I wanted to mostly grains and fiber and carrots, etc. I stopped drinking for a couple weeks and with the cipro, I returned to normal for about ten days. Once I got back to my old self, I started drinking and eating pretty heavily again, and the bloating and discomfort in my left side came back and has been with me ever since, with varying degrees of discomfort. Not really pain; only recently have i begun experiencing minor pain when i laugh heartily or rarely when i cough. I am able to pretty much function normally. I play waterpolo appx. four times per week- very high impact, and it doesn't really inhibit me. Also, i still eat a lot and whatever i want. the doctor prescribed zantac and then prilosec, but i havent had much success with them. What concerns me is that the problem seems to be getting worse and there are a number of symptoms that may or may not be realted. It is noteworthy that i have had a cat scan that didn't show anything, multiple blood urine and stool tests---nothing, and recently a full colonoscopy that made me feel a little better but not really and the doctor said i was fine and was probably having spasms. more fiber he said. some of my symptoms include:
difficulty starting urination, and not ever feeling done.
smaller feces than i am used to (i am 6'5" 230) and a similar track on all of them
excessive bloating in belly, even when i don't eat
some left back bloating as well
sometimes debilitating groin pain that i thought was an old water polo injury
a faint but potentially intense pain in my upper penis and sometimes testicles.
what feels like swelling in my left leg, especially calf area
pain in inner thigh
i really have no clue what it is. the negative cat scan is great but i think i need more tests. i have a doc appt. in two weeks, so until then i am just going to not drink alcohol and stick to fiber-rich foods and veggies.
any and all comments are appreciated
