Unpleasant Vaginal odor, could it be my IUD?

Douch twice a day with vinegar and the smell will go away. You have to do it daily or the smell will come back.

Omg, I had the exact same issue! Up until last week, I had my mirena in for 4.5 years. During that time I gained excessive amounts of weight, had random bleeding and worst of all, vaginal odor. The smell would not go away no matter what I did! Now that it's removed I've already noticed a significant difference.

I've had the IUD for 6months, and have been diagnosed with BV four times. I can not take the smell. It's also caused me to bleed longer and cramp harder during my cycle. THE BV? Discharge, and smell was too much for me. I coils take it so I had the copper IUD removed this morning. I am on my cycle so I don't know how my body will readjust but I'm assuming I will not get BV like I didn't before.

I have the same issue, it's disgusting and embarrassing! I would have never gotten it if I knew this was what I had to deal with. The smell is so awful I have douches and Don e everything I can. I've been reading alot and I'm reading after u take it out the smell doesn't go away completely ... I'm In hell! I'm getting it out and I'll hope it at least improves. It's a very effective method all right ... No guy will want to go near there with the smell.

I'm 6 months in to my second Merena iud. I had the foul/rotten smell with the first one. I think it went away after 9 months. I related it going away to me becoming sexually active. I thought it just needed some "use" to work the kinks out. Haha. Now this one is causing the same horrible smell and I want it out! I must've forgotten how embarrassing and unpleasant living with the smell was because now I'm regretting my second iud. I will try my best to wait till the 9 month mark but I don't know if I'll make it. :-(

Omg I love the internet I have had the Mirana for about 7 months now and all the sudden out of no where this offel rotten smell has been come out from down there and my husband always tells me how good I smell and taste..I am just too afraid to ruin this rep with this stinky mirana problem I though to Google why this could be happening and here I am with the awnser to my question.. I believe it true too...

I also have that brown discharge and crappy smell that my boyfriend pointed out. I've had my iud for four years now and been having this problem for a year now. I read everyone,s stories and can only suggest that I just tried Hydrogen Proxide with water only one day and the smell is gone........I think.......I'll ask my boyfriend tomorrow.

Hello phoebe2370, I too get my period but much lighter and it will go from red to brown which I think causes the stench of rotten poop. I've been reading these women's posts and just yesterday tried half water and half hydrogen proxide and I did it about 7 times in the day. Smells gone now but if it comes back I will try vinegar or tea tree oil. They are all safe.

I use a half water and half hydrogen proxide for my vaginal smell and it works. As for your other smell, I learned that mouth wash has antibacterial benefits for smelly sweat. Rub the areas once or twice a day with the mouthwash and soon the smell will be gone but you will still sweat but without smell. It works. With you working on loosing weight you should google being Vegan and search why it is so much healthier. So much to learn. Try watching Food Matters, Food Ink, Farm to Fridge and Forks over Knifes......you'd be surprised. Nobody that is Vegan is overweight. All the best to you

First ask your doctor about some of the suggestions you've read here. These women seem like they know a lot about it.
I too get the odor when I'm on my period. I just tried hydrogen proxide once and it worked. And yes....you should marry a man that is comfortable and thoughtful to be able to talk about this with you. Let him read all these postings from all these wonderful women and he'll be even more understanding. He loves you

Hello Ladies,

I am 1 year with the Mirana IUD and it is causing an embarassing odor. At first I thought is was trapping body fluids or something. The smell is so beyond acceptable. I find myself using body sprays and wipes during the day to stave off the smell. Your similar comments have let me know it is a by-product of the devise and common, while not cool. (lol). I will seek the advise of my physician. Thank you for sharing.

I have had my Copper IUD for 5 years! I know exactly what everyone is talking about. I have been to the GYN two times and found nothing.

THE THING THAT WORKS IS SIMPLE!

Vinegar and water.... It has been the only thing that takes to odor right away!

Old school I know but it worked!

i've had the IUD since I was 15, and until I turned about 16 I started going to school and heard people saying things about the way I smelled and it just got worse, and stronger. I got the IUD removed because my boyfriend could feel it. I just got a new IUD, it's not even been a month and the foul odor is back and driving me INSANE.
