I had a surgical termination, the day of my two week exam my doctor placed me on the Nuvaring as my birth control option. A few hours after inserting the ring my husband and I had unprotected sex and he carelessly ejaculated inside of me, the next day I was spotting a little which shocked me since I had been done bleeding for a few days. So my question is what's the possibilities of my being pregnant or does the Nuvaring start to work immediately?
You should use another form of protection about 7 days from when you start to use it IF its your first time using a contraceptive(i.e. birth control, the patch...) However, it should start to work right away if you were on another form of birth control before. I would keep an eye out with for when your next period should come. Maybe speak to your doctor about it further?
I agree that this is a good idea but it's important to remember that it's possible to have some level of vulnerability while you swithc birth control and it's a good idea to use contraception for about 7 days. Does that help or at least make sense?
