Hi I hope I may be able to help. I was 64 and had been taking 2mg of Rivotril (clonazepam) for close to 30 years. I decided to wean myself off this and when I did I was suddenly convulsed with burning mouth and burning stomach and feeling ill all the time. I went to a gastro specialist and after doing all the tests he concluded it was the nerve endings in my stomach. I went back on the Rivotril plus 10mg of Endep. All was well for a few years and I had even stopped the Endep when this brainiac of a G.P. decided he did not like me taking Rivotril and would not prescribe. I told him of previous experience but he knew best. Well I was back to being as sick as a dog, he said to take 75mg Endep - useless. I did my research and discovered that Rivotril is prescribed for nerve pain. Showed him my findings so he said he would prescribe but only for 1mg. There has been improvement but I am going to up to 2mg as that was what was keeping me pain free originally

Did you every find out what was wrong with yohr wife. Sorry, I know this is like years later, but I found this while searching for my own answers. My stomach burns when I eat, mostly afternoon/evening and causes nausea when it gets bad enough. Has she done a gastric emptying study? I'm going to be tested for it, because the G.I. Doctor discussed the possibility of Gastroparesis, and I'm terrified to say the least.

It could be actually an indesgetive issue. Especially because it’s occuring after she eats. Meaning she could have an ulcer in her tummy perhaps? Or an infection. Just certain things like that can mess up her stomach and make it feel as if it’s burning

Hello, your wife should go see a functional medicine Practioner and have bowel and SIBO(small intestinal bacteria overgrowth ) tests done. She could also have H Pylori which is also common with SIBO ... and is another bacteria overgrowth. Conventional Drs don’t test for this sort of stuff and it can make you pretty sick I know I’ve been through it and had all the tests and CT scans endoscopes and colonoscopies too. I was sick and still am healing for 4 yrs now. Bacteria is very difficult to get rid of and don’t do antibiotics they don’t work. It has to be done with herbs and it can take a long time but she’ll see improvements.

I have the same thing and wonder if it may be radiation from the computer screen which I do believe intensifies at times? If it is then she needs to shield herself from it with either a piece of several layers thick aluminium toil, (the household type). and the only other thing I can think of in this instance is a piece of lead flashing laid across her stomach as she sits in front of her computer. I hope this helps.

Hi! I know this post was from over a year ag, but I'm just now seeing it. This could have been written by me. Same exact symptoms! No one could diagnose me with anything..."everything is normal" Yeah right. I suffered for 2 years also. Could barely eat. I lost so much weight, and became malnourished and dehydrated that it affected my kidney function. Well, finally found a GI that suggested, although not enthusiastically, Reglan. I was desperate. It can have some pretty bad side effects if taken for a long period of time in some people, mainly tardive dyskenesia for one. Uncontrolled muscle movements. Black Box warning. BUT IT WORKED! I was kind of scared to take it at first, but said what the heck "I can't take this stomach problem anymore" I couldn't believe it! Within 15 minutes my severe nausea was gone, no more upper abdominal burning and pain. Come to find out I have gastrophresis. Slow stomach emptying. Two solid years of pure torture, which made me depressed so of course they recommend anti-depressants. I tried them. Made it worse! So if you and you doctor can agree, and discuss the benefits out-weighing the risks. I would mention it and try for a couple of weeks. I hope who ever reads this has found relief, but if not ask about Reglan.

Lynn
