A US toddler managed to survive after being locked in his home with his deceased mother for up to six days by eating cat food and other items. By surviving, the boy has displayed marvellous survival instincts.

The two-year-old Noah and his mother were discovered after a Sacramento County Child Protective Services (CPS) worker had gone to check on the family as the mother suffered from a chronic illness. Although no one answered the door, she heard a child crying and called the police. The police needed to force their way into their home in North Sacramento, where they found a little boy and his deceased mother who had apparently been dead for at least six days.

The boy managed to survive by eating "whatever was in sight and within reach" and it is a miracle he had managed to survive such a tragedy, being locked in the house with no access to the outside world.

Police believe that the mother had been dead for up to six days and the boy had been eating cat food and other items to survive. The child is now undergoing medical tests and was placed in protective custody.
