Hello, I have been trying to seek some way of helping my friend. He has survived a car accident but due to a severe head trauma he is in a coma and has been in that state for the past 7 days. The doctors cannot tell anything for certain and I am just so worried. I have heard that using Ambien might be helpful here, but I am not sure how it can help patients in coma.
Well, I have heard of the several cases when the people in come woke up after they have been given Ambien. But, the connection between that condition and Ambien was not established and it just might be a pure coincidence. Also, if your friend’s injury was a severe one, then I am not sure that he will be administrated any additional medication if there is no necessity.
I have a friend who has awakened from a coma twice after 2 doses of Ambien. Her coma began in July of 2007. The first time was after the 60 minutes program aired (November, 2007). She fell into a coma again in September, 2008 when she had became pregnant and miscarried. Her life support was to be turned off Dec 26, 2008, but she received a dose of Ambien on the 25th and then another the morning of the 26th - and she awoke soon after. She is absolutely fine and will be going home after a few more days of physical therapy.
How is she doing now? Its been 14 years since?
