A few weeks ago I experienced burning when urinating. It felt just like the other UTIs I've had, so I went to the doctor. There were white blood cells in my urine, I was prescribed Bactrim, and my pain immediately cleared up. I've felt fine ever since.
The problem is that this week my doctor's office called me back and said that, though there were wbc in my urine, my cultures did not show that I had had a UTI.
What could cause white blood cells in my urine? I've been in a monogamous relationship for two years, so it's nothing STD related. I'm getting quite worried, even though the nurse didn't sound too concerned on the phone, and didn't say that I had to rush to get into the office again.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

That is a little strange that you have WBC in your urine but it doesn't sound like it would be an STD or anything either. I think that the best thing for you to do is find out what the doctor thinks it is. Can you keep us posted?
