That's normal for women whom don't have proper hygiene habits. It'll go away in approx. 2 - 3 weeks with proper hygiene. Any Soap even a gentle non-scented hypo allergenic soap should only be used sparingly on the pubic Mons and the outer portion of the labia majora. ( The parts that grow pubic hair) For the rest of the vulva ( The hairless side of the labia majora, the labia minora, the clitoral hood, and clitoris) all you need is water. A women should clean with water at least once a day and after every time they have sex or touch themselves. Also wash and rinse thoroughly anything that's going to come into contact with your genitalia. I.e hands, a vibrator, a dildo, a d*ck are all examples of things that should be cleaned first even if you don't think it's dirty and rinsed thoroughly with water to keep bacteria and soap away from there. The genitals hate foreign bacteria and despises soap. If your significant other is going down on you, you should use a dental dam or cut a condom length wise so you can use that as a dental dam. This is because saliva and the millions of bacteria in a human mouth isn't all that good down there either. In fact a recent study has found that using saliva as a lube can cause minor yeast infections and UTIs.
Hope this helps! : )

Hi All. i seem to have the same problem, thick white discharge. and also sort of the onion smell I used to have. I find that for smell the probiotics with reuteri really help. I use nature's way - one a day. seems to help because I dont' even remember what type of smell it was cause its not there anymore). I also tried baking soda. just put some in water and douche. it does help with discharge, but it's a temporary measure. if you stop, it will come back. but once a week maybe enough. and I'm not sure if there are long term complications if you keep doing it.

I have had the same issue for years yet three different gynos would not take my concerns seriously because my discharge tested 'normal' and they would tell me that it's normal to have creamy discharge at times during my cycle & ignore me when I told them it was ALL THE TIME.
The only thing I have tried so far is making my own baking soda douches and supposetories and I want to discourage anyone from trying that route. It worked temporarily, but the supposetory made me horribly ill and I almost had to go to the ER. The douche (I had never done one before) gave me a reoccuring resistant UTI which lasted through three rounds of antibiotics (about six months.)
I do have HPV, but from reading all of the responses here, I don't really think that is relevant. I also believe I may have endometriosis like another user here and plan on getting tested soon.
Unlike a lot of you though, sex CURES my discharge for about 12-24hrs. I think it has something to do with the PH of semen. I have had my PH tested at the gyno and strangely enough she said it was in the normal range. I was expecting it to be extremely high or low.
The way I manage after years of going through two or three pairs of soaking panties a day is every morning in the shower I use my finger to scrape out most of the buildup from the previous day/night then let the water wash it away then go back in until hardly any white comes out. It seems to me that the discharge is so thick that it will not simply run out on it's own, but the discharge just hangs out up inside until more builds up and pushes it out. By cleaning it out every morning, I am creating a space for it to flow into until I can clean it out again. I know that it isn't a solution, but it is just how I get by day to day. If I know I am going to be having sex and it's late at night I will also run to the bathroom and just do the same thing except in the sink.
I believe I first started seeing these symptoms after having a lot of antibiotics. I am most intrigued by the lube/oil option as this seems less harmful than putting soaps/chemicals inside of me and will also do the humaworm cleanse because believe it or not I have been having other health issues and already had that product in my bookmarks. I had no idea it could possibly help with this issue as well. I will probably give it a go as well since it just keeps looking like a good solution for me.
I wish all you brave ladies luck. It's just so hard to be a confident sexual woman when something like this pulls down your self confidense.

I have been having BV and random thick white discharge that balls up when you rub your fingers together for about 6 years now. I spent thousands of dollars going to 3 different doctors and even a vulva specialist. None of them have had answers for me. Occasionally it is bv and i can get rid of it with vaginal metronidazole. The last 3 times i have used it though it didnt work and i didnt get rid of the thick white stuff but it did make the smell go away. So i did the boric acid for 2 weeks 2 times a day in regular capsules. That didn't work either. Still thick white stuff. It doesn't matter what i do. whether i am on birth control or not, whether i have sex or not, wear underwear or not. I cannot get rid of it. The doctors did a culture and once when I had a 2 and half inch complex cyst on my ovaries the white stuff was a mixture of bv and yeast. it comes and goes. cyst or no cyst it just wont go away. I have given up all hope. I have no more money to spend and now i dont have health care.

I have had this same issue - took me 10 years to figure it out. Mine turned out to be food allergies. I am actually allergic to several things, primarily garlic and almonds, among other things. I find that when I eat foods like this the build up gets really bad. But I can manage it by avoiding foods that my body is sensitive to. The way foods are processed these days, it is no wonder that it jacks up our bodies so badly. My suggestion (it could not hurt) get an allergy prick test and see if there are any foods you should be avoiding.

Completely feel for you. I had a Bartholin abscess that was very painful, I was told by doc to take warm bath, no bubbles and add quite a few drops of tea tree to bath water. After a few days the abscess subsided. I didn't need to have it treated other than that. In answer to your point about the connection, it could be. Unfortunately for me, I'm in my forties and have had the discharge symptoms all the ladies here have described. I've tried everything. I've learnt to live with it, but It has put me off oral sex. My partner doesn't mind, just my preference.
