[The Cure!] If you're certain it's not strep or any other bad bacterial-related disease of sorts, it's most likely excess fluids. I've had this a couple times before, and it's just terrible.

Basically, if you drink a ton of water then immediately go to sleep, or you smoke for the first time and other cases, when sleeping, cellular metabolism is virtually nothing. Your body can't get rid of or use any of that excess liquid and it just gets stored in your cells forcefully. A hypotonic situation, your cells start to swell, your throat most noticeably. You'll be noticing more saliva and mucus as your body tries getting rid of excess fluids.

The "Cure" - I'm not an official doctor or consulted with one or anything, this is mere speculation based off my own experiences. I assure you this worked and you can test it yourself.

I recommend you don't drink any liquids for at least 24 hours. If you don't believe me, check your urine, it should be relatively clear even though you never drank liquid and such.

To greatly lessen this 24-hour period, rigorous exercise is needed. You must sweat a great deal, remember, no liquid or it will be for nothing.

Gargle warm salt water often, this creates a hypertonic situation as the salt removes excess water in your throat.

The worst possible thing you can do would be to drink fluid, this will make your throat swell more and make you feel worse.

I have had an awful site throat for 3 weeks. My doctor said it was thrush and gave me nystan for this which has done nothing. Second doctor in a and e said no visible thrush or tonsillitis or any abnormalities that he can see.! Any ideas? I've been taking painkillers and lozenges and throat sprays which seem to help in the day but I'm back to square one in the morning!!

If drinking any liquid whether it be from drink or food like fruits gives you 1 beautiful second of relief then makes you feel worse for a longer time, it's most likely excess fluid, I posted 'The Cure' earlier.

I came across this board last week. I too had the worst sore throat. It felt like sand paper rubbing inside with swelling to the point I could not swallow my on saliva. My lymph nodes in my neck were enlarged. I had been prescribed antibiotics 2 weeks earlier from  my initial md visit. The pain finally worsened to the point of interferring with my work so I went back to the md's office about the sore throat.

Turns out I had thrush and esophagitis from taking the original dose of antibiotics for my cold. Dr prescribed me an oral Diflucan pill regimen of 7 weeks and a mouthwash called "Mary's Miracle Mouthwash". The mouthwash I got from the pharmacy was $75, but worth every penny. It's not terrible in flavor, but not the greatest either. If you are in as bad of pain as I was, you will use it. It has several components mixed in a fluid suspension such as diphenhydramine (benadryl), nystatin, tetracycline, and some other ingredients. The numbing relief is about 80% which made my life more bareable. You swish it around and gargle and swallow a small amount.

I was so thankful my physician knew of this treatment.  I am on the mend now, not completely healed, but in a much happier place. I also combine two Advil with my mouthwash program.  I hope that you all may be helped from reading this post. I wanted to share my experiences with similar symptoms as you all. I apparently had white patches on my tongue and mouth, which I was not aware of. This helped the md diagnose me.

If this is not your same scenario, then I still suggest Chloraseptic and Advil. This was my ammo before I knew what my problem was. The Advil helped some of the swelling and the Chloraseptic helped numb the throat for a short while. I also gargled with warm salt water often. Above all else, go see your doctor. You can't afford to play with your own health. Best wishes!!!!!<3

You might still have strep troat, and the pain might be your system trying to fight te infection, try drinking warm milk and water and avoid spicy things witch will make it worse.try swallowing pain killers but only if severe! nothing working? try asking your doctor :)

I have the same thing, first I got the flu, week later my lymph nodes we swollen. Couldn't eat and painful to swallow. Im 23, i dont smoke, dip, or drink alcohol. I did feel like a big baby going to the emergency room but it was also painful in my ears. Doctors gave me a shot in the butt, hydrocodine cough syrup, and steroids. I was so grateful to feel normal again. Went away for a few days but its back now. Doctor sent me home with cough syrup and ketorolac thats taken every 8 hours. Which helps with imflamation.

if there is no fever or white puss pockets, it's viral and there isn't anything to take for it. if they strep tested you and it was negative, that means it's viral as well. i know it hurts, but you have to suck it up, it will get better. :)

I'm having a similar problem I'm 17 and have been smoking about 6 months or so and this June I got a bad cough which doctor said was allergy related because I was stuffy and my eyes were watering. Ive never had summer allergies before and I haven't been able to get the cough to go away for over a month. I've lost my voice once or twice and couldn't talk for a couple days. Now after 3 trips to the doctor and lots of prescriptions I still have a cough and a few sore spots in my air tube cuz it hurts when I breathe not when I swallow.

REMEDY ..

I've had the same sore threat where it would hurt and pain to swallow anything, even my salive.. It would go bad to a stage where it hurt even to take deep breaths.

The remedy to this condition is tablet named ROXID - 150 mg .

Take two tablets a day on empty stomach and with plenty of water, water would help it to dissolve and absorb more quickly among the damaged cells. In two days, you'll be fine.
