I felt alone and helpless. Luckily my husband was super supportive but the pain is HORRIBLE and it scares you to eat anything. The best advice that I can give you is to go to the emergency room during one of your attacks. when you get there tell them before you receive any type of treatment you want the test to see if your duct is blocked. if they do this during the attack the duct will be blocked and the doctor will reccomend emergency surgery. it is important that they perform the test prior to giving meds and an IV. The meds will calm it down and the fluids will hydrate you...so they won't see it at it's worse and will not refer you for emergency surgery. I can't think of the name of the test but it takes almost an hour and a half. they follow your digestion system, take pics, you have to lay on an open xray type of machine and it scans your whole body, and then they inject something in you that causes your gallbladder to react as if you just had an hamburger. The whole proces is tedious and painful but they will see what they need to and hopefully take your gallbladder out the same day. Best Wishes

Organic apple cider vinegar really does help. Add 2 teaspoons to 1/2 cup of water and drink. It has been a life savor for me. I had an ultra sound that confirmed gall stones, so off I go to the surgeon. I am praying for something other than surgery that could help. After reading all of the stories of problems people have with digestion after having their gall bladder removed, it would be a blessing to just have the gall stones flushed out or crushed and then flushed. Not sure if that's an option but praying for it. watched several video's about home gall stone flushes but afraid to try that, they might be too larger to pass. That would mean horrific pain. Looked up the gall stone diet and have been following it with pretty good results. Have been pain free for a little more than a week. Good luck to all of you awaiting to see your doctors and have surgery.

my story is the same: painful attacks and waiting for surgery. Yesterday's episode was The worst, it started at lunch, subsided in the afternoon, then kept me up all night. I think it will be mild soups for a while. In the meantime, i was thinking to get some sleepaids, like dreamwater which i've used before on red eye flights and is all natural. I will try pear juice and organic apple cider vinegar.
I like to joke (to myself mostly) that the gallstone diet is the best way to shed a few pounds! Being afraid to eat for fear of pain, is a powerful diet plan.

I see doc for consultation monday. Im currently off work today due to pain in my back and side. Hurts to do anything. Wondering if waiting can be dangerous. They found a 12mm stone in the ultra sound and others. They also stated something about the lining and infection. All they gave me is pain med. Any one have any suggestions??

I am so amazed that people seem to be having surgery so quickly. My problems started with my right kidney last Feb. 2012. I had six kidney stone attacks before I went to hospital. Saw a very nice Doctor who prescribed me pain meds to ease the pain of passing a large stone. 2 months later I had a gall bladder attack but because my other kidney was also acting up with numerous attacks. They presumed it was just my kidneys. I saw my GP and he shrugged his shoulders with a "Suck it up buttercup attitude"
Finally, this Sept. of 2013 my GP sent me for a test and found my gall bladder to be full of stones and my right kidney full of stones and cysts on my liver. I have been in agonizing pain for 1 year and seven months and have lost 30 pounds. The pain from my gall bladder starts when I wake up until I manage to fall asleep from exhaustion. The nausea and dizziness is terrible and I just do not want to eat anymore. My GP has never given me anything for pain. I just received a letter for an app. for March of 2014! That is NOT a surgery date. Please if anyone has any advice on how to live with this for another 6 months or more please tell me. Doctors are hard to find and mine is not taking me seriously.

I have been suffering for 6 months now. I found out in October that my gall bladder is distended and the walls are thicker than 3mm. I have a positive Murphey sign and multiple gall stones. At the beginning, the pain came in went. Now the last 2 months the pain is every day , but the pain can vary from mild to hurts like hell. I cant have surgery until my insurance kicks in in January. My family doctor sent me to the ER in October after the ultrasound but they told me i had to go see a surgeon and it wasnt standers practice to admit me. My doctor is concerned i could get pancreantitis from this. Any advice?

Hi, I am up at five past one in the morning, can't sleep for intense back, rib, stomach ache etc, and yes I do get very bloated. I eventually managed to get an MRI scan on 28th Dec, showed no gallstones but Consultant feels in may be gallbladder disease. Now waiting to go get a referral to surgeon. I like am concerned about these symptoms but am assured they are normal for gallbladder problems.
Other than a low fat diet I really don't have anything else to offer, just re-assurance that you are not alone. This horrible, debilitating, scary blight has totally put my life on hold for seven months, no-one seems particularly interested and the only thing the A&E did when I suffered extreme vomiting for 24 hrs was fill me up with Morphine, then slept for two days. My GP then told me Morphine wasn't any good for gallbladder pain, so other than not caring if I lived or died (I don't smoke/drinkt etc) I am not keen to go down that route again!! However I am really keen however to find what pain relief other sufferers find works?
Only someone who is going through this can imagine how desperate it is.
