Over the years i have lost touch with a lot of people i was friends with. I had a lovely friend when i was in the army in 1990. Since then a lot of people have used me and taken advantage of me. I am always so kind to the people i meet. The loneliness is eating me up inside at the moment. I have so much to offer but i'm struggling to find good friends. I'm 42 but still feel so young because of long-term drug abuse in the past. I have been clean and sober for 13 years next month. I'm really hurting a lot inside because i have no one to share my life with. I always seem to hook up with people who are not good for me. I would like to have friends that i can email and chat to.

But I know the feeling
I may not know you, or know what you're going through
but I know what lonliness feels like, and the feeling of being 6taken advantage of, and TRUST me, thats sad story you don't want to hear me tell, I'll be going on and on about the girl who used and abused me for about 4 years, and I didn't do a damned thing to stop myself from getting hurt.
But there are others who feel your pain as well, connect with THEM they're the ones you need, because in the end, they need you too. Truthfully, anyone who's ever been lonely that I know, I've been there for them, at a moments notice. I comfoted them in anyway I possibly could, I mean, maybe not the ways I wish I could, but then again, I'm just some guy. I couldn't buy them flowers, take them to the concert going on up in Detroit so me and them could share a moment and see our first concert together (blame my parents for that one) but truthfully, I did the best that I could do, and right now, I'm going to tell you the best thing you can do, because thats what I can do for you.
There are a ton of ways to meet people
get into a hobby or an intrest you can stick by.
I'm going to name off two examples:
Anime: Sure, they're animated and it doesn't have real people, and maybe it's kind of weired if you're used to the more "American" style of cartoon, but there's a book for every person who doesn't like books, as I always say. Which means even if you can't get into one Anime, doesnt mean you cant find another intresting. And now for the good part I'd give a rough estimate to say about 43% of the US population goes to Comic con or similar conventions around the states, and a mojority of them, are Anime Conventions. There are LITERALLY hundreds of thousands of people that go to these conventions. I go there, and I'm a loner, I don't talk to anyone unless they talk to me literally 4 diffrent people start talking to me before I even get in the door of the convention (probobly because I was wearing a costume though) and I actually have them in my adress book! I talk to them every other week! they're good friends of mine!
But I digress.
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Watch it, honestly, its the best thing that's ever happened to me, I can't watch it without smiling once, and that's on a bad day where I want to slit my wrists and beat my parents becasue they're constanly breathing down my neck and saying I'm a delinquent because they just don't like me. There's been an EXPLOSION of fans gathering to this show, and they're Men around the age range od 25-50 years old, just around your Age group, which would be great for you... If you could live with accepting Love and Tolerance into your heart.
but I have to point out, even if there's alot of Fans and Love going around in the "Brony" community, There's also alot of hate.
But generally, as we "hip" and "young" teens of my generation like to say: "Haters Going To Hate" and thats generally for anything. It's human nature to attack anything that seems Deviant to what we're used to. But that can be explained by a little Video I want you to watch if you're not feeling the whole "my little pony" thing. And trust me, even if you don't want to become one of the herd, it's still a good watch, it gives us insight of what our culture might be turning to.
But again, In digress. There are Thousands of men your age that like this show, and th majority of them are strait, if your worried about that. and they hold conventions such as "TrotCon" in Columbus Ohio, they just recently had a Con ealier this year, and they had up to 2,000+ people that came through their doors!
All I'm trying to say is, get into something
And people will find you.
and when they do, they'll want to be your freind, as much as you want them to be yours.
