Just wanna know your thoughts on how much water you should take in? I am the kind or person who just drinks when I am thirsty and I also make sure that my pee is at least clear. Is this good enough?

Hi hardrock,
I remember seeing a study somewhere (sorry can't remember a source) that concluded that drinking 2 litres of water a day didn't really help anything and you should just look to drink when thirsty.
I agree though that water is always better than any fizzy pop or sugarry drinks. It rehydrates you better for a start.
Anybody else got any thoughts on this one?

Well I try to drink at least one liter a day. I really don't know anything about studies but I know that we can last longer without food then without water.
Am I allowed to post this by the way?

Couple of points I'd like to pick out.

So I think your body will tell you when your lacking and make you feel thirsty, but its best to drink a little more to stay well hydrated and alert.

'If you don't drink enough, your body will save water by concentrating your urine, which will look darker, and your brain will tell you that you need more water by making you feel thirsty.'

The minimum figures for the body's daily water loss are 500ml through urine and 700ml through breathing and sweating.
Doctors advise that to be on the safe side we should drink at least 1.2 litres of liquids (2.5 pints). So, remember, although water is essential, you don't need to become obsessed about drinking eight glasses a day!

Well I eat a lot of apples and tangerines through the day, and they are very hydrated fruits. And they can help with the thirst a lot. Good hydration of the body is very important.
I do the same thing, Dark_red. I really don't even drink all that much liquid but I am not suffering from chronic dehydration or else I'd be dead by now! I just make sure that I drink enough when I feel thirsty but there's no reason to drink more than necessary. Does anyone do the whole false 8 glasses per day?
