Hi. I had both fallopian tubes removed years prior and suffered like most of us on here with the awful weight gain.

Hi. I did the exact same everything as you. I stopped BHRT recently as well after about a year due to fear of breast cancer as my mother is breast cancer survivor. Did not help me either.

A physician (male of course) blogs that reason for weight gain after ablation as such:
Hormone levels are altered which causes joint pain
The pain from joints makes us less able to be active/exercise which causes the weight gain
The excess weight makes us depressed and so we eat ever more, including lots of sugar, which causes even more weight/joint pain and therefore our issues are heightened.
I CALL BS! ON THIS because none of these ‘descriptions’ fit with me (and I’m sure same goes for a great number of women on this site!). Never joint pain or decrease in activity/exercise for me at all and I don’t eat sugar at all! I am an extremely healthy eater, hubby is a nutritionist/weight trainer and he is probably the main reason that I feel great even though I still fight with weight gain constantly.

Hi Novasure. So you are trying to say that hundreds of people on this thread that have gained +50 lbs in the abdomen and maintained the same eating/exercising habits are cheating on their diets? Are you kidding? I have steadily gained weight since the procedure in 2016 and NOTHING I DO TOUCHES THE WEIGHT. I've given up meat, dairy, gluten and soy. I go to the gym. My breast size is 4X what it was and I look PREGNANT. Like everyone else on this thread. And I don't eat candy bars!!!!!

I had my thermal ablation done in May of 2016 and I have gained 50 lbs. I am 5' 2". I have NEVER been anything bigger than a size 4/6. I literally felt the week following the procedure slowed down, stuck and like I was gaining weight. Prior to my surgery I was a size 4. I am now over 160 lbs. I don't even weigh myself anymore, I am so depressed. I eat clean and I exercise. I've tried everything to get rid of the weight. I feel bloated and pregnant every day. This is the most depressing thing that has ever happened to me. I specifically asked my dr before the surgery if it would make me gain weight or put me in menopause. Dudes, it FAST TRACKED me to menopause. I am willing to join a class action. I'm really angry.

Thank you. I felt the same way. Stop judging people. We know our bodies and doctors do lie.

I had my ablation done on 4/9/2018, it is now 6 weeks later and I have gained 11lbs! I went into this at an already overweight number of 172.. I have NEVER had a gut even after my 3 kids and I now have a stomach that looks like I am 5 mos pregnant! No changes in eating, or activity. I have constant back pain and do have some muscle and joint pains which I never felt before! My MALE ob/gyn said this would actually HELP ME LOSE WEIGHT - I am seeing an Endocronologist as a last resort for help.. making my issue harder to cope with is the fact I am Diabetic Tye 2... which already poses a challenge in losing weight.. wishing I'd NEVER done this to myself. I would of dealt with the long and heavy periods had I known this up front.

I too have gained weight since my ablation which failed resulting in hysterectomy. Put on about 10 lbs but I look like it is more. All in midsection, hips, thighs. So angry at the doctor who pushed this on me. I had heavy bleeding but would have rather suffered with that. I feel so fat and disgusting and never ever had a weight issue. This procedure took everything from me, so regretful.

Those are all anti inflammatory foods! Good for you! Another coincidence could be age. Women tend to have ablations done in late 30’s -45 and these are typical hormone weight gaining years. Sad but true. Anti inflammatory is the way to go!

Hi- I had my ablation and tubal Nov 2017. Since then, I have been carrying about 15 lbs and seem to hold water. What’s weird is I look like I am four months pregnant. I do have hypothyroidism but my levels are fine.

When I work out and sweat out the water- I can lose about six pounds of it. However- my abdomen stays swollen. I am seeing another gyno in August bc something doesn’t seem right. Also- I have a lot of sharp pain on one side. Just odd.

I’m 46 and had ablasion done in 2012, since then I have gained at least 60 pounds ONLY in the belly area. I changed my diet, blah blah blah!, NO Change!! My high weight prior to the procedure was 140. During my recent OB exam, I asked about my stomach weight gain, and was told basically that I’m getting older. I started menopause 2 years after the ablation, I’ve been on hormones since then. So I’ve been in search of how to get this stomach smaller and came accross Acupuncture. At this point, I’m willing to try anything. So today, I had my second visit. Last week she told me, that I was retaining water. I was surprised, then today, she pressure pointed on an area mid way between my ankle and my knee along the bone. It was the ONLY area on my body that actually had pain but no pain prior to her touching the area. I was like why, does that hurt. She explained that it’s one of 3 meridians in our bodies, it’s directly related to the women having issues with their reproductive areas. I told her that I had the ablation and she basically told me that a women is supposed to have a period to get rid of the toxic blood. So that kinda got me wondering if maybe the reason that my stomach is bigger is because I have toxic blood in my belly that has no way to escape?? I really don’t know if that’s possible but why else would I have only weight gain in my belly??
