I know this is an old thread but had to post incase someone else like me comes across this.
I have been pretty much the same weight for 8 years (5'4 between 125-135lb) In the past 8 months I have been gaining weight and couldn't find an answer. I hadn't changed anything with my diet or exercise, but when I started noticing my weight going up I ate better, counted calories, did more cardio, take walks on my lunch break. Nothing helps to lose the weight and it just keeps going up. I am now the heaviest I've ever been- 155lb, I cant fit in my clothes, I measured my waist and it was 34 inches! I was wearing a size 6-8 and now some size 11-13 don't even fit! I thought maybe I had a thyroid problem or something- nope, totally normal. My PCP and gastro didn't have an answer for me and wouldn't listen. Just yesterday my coworker (who uses nuvaring) was talking about how she didn't want to get her period on vacation so asked how she can kind of manipulate her cycle (we work at a fertility center, so this is common talk). It dawned on me that I started gaining weight after a vacation in September 2022 where I looked and felt great, still about 130-135lb. I remembered that I was still on nuvaring at that point because I did the same thing of manipulating my cycle by taking the ring out early so I wouldn't have my period on vacation. I decided to stop using nuvaring after that because my periods seemed to be getting heavier for some reason (I used it for over a year at that point) and haven't taken any birth control since. I didn't put together the timing of weight gain together with stopping the nuvaring until yesterday and started searching and came upon this thread. THANK GOD! I feel like I've finally found an answer and I'm not crazy! I'm going to start the ring again after my next period due in about a week to hopefully help with this extra 20lb!

Hi ladies. I was on Nuvaring for 7ish years. I’ve been off Nuvaring for 1 month and have been shedding a large amount of hair in the last 2 weeks. I never was one to have super thick hair but now it is around 1/3-1/2 the thickness it was while on Nuvaring. My boobs also got smaller which I was expecting but the hair loss is alarming. My gyno said hair loss is common and should “level out” in about 3 months… will I have any hair by then?

I was on NRing for 22 years and last year stopped, because my husband and I are ready for a baby. I was roughly 140lbs at 5'6. Since I have been off, I have gained roughly 20lbs! I never thought it could be the NRing, because I was taught that you gain weight when your are ON birth control. I am the heaviest I have ever been and I don't like it. I exercise everyday, including weight and resistance training 2-3x a week in a HIIT style. I have to admit, I have never been one to do weight training until I noticed my weight increasing. I am gaining weight in the strangest places too....my triceps area under my chin (as you mentioned) and back shoulders. I have been working out for about 6 months now with no wieghtloss....SOOO frustrating! I have an appointment to discuss my hormones and hypothyroid issue. I tested my hormones last year and they were fine....
