My daughter was diagnosed with Bartters syndrome at 18months old, 23years ago. She has been taking quite a cocktail of drugs over the years but is currently taking Kay-Cee-L (potassium supplement,) 60ml three times per day. Her potassium level is generally 2.8. Four months ago she was prescribed ramapril. Since then she has suffered with a dry, tickly cough and has started to lose weight. She is 5ft 8ins tall and weighs 7 and a half stone. She is constantly tired and has no energy which is quite out of character. She has now stopped taking the ramapril on the GP's instructions but does not seemed to have improved. Can you tell me if losing weight (eventhough her appetite has not altered) is connected to this disorder? It has been suggested that she may have Gitelmans syndrome? Can you please advise.
Many thanks.
