So for the last month or so my stomach has been acting up badly, after having a full meal (dinners etc) and particularly after too much dairy, I get a sore stomach, loud noises, bloating, nausea upon other things. IBS and lactose intolerance both run in the family so I wouldn't be surprised if it's one or both of those. And now today, after having spaghetti for dinner I rushed off to the bathroom once my stomach started making awful sounds and the nausea set in. I looked down and noticed almost straw like strands attached to my stools, they were thin and fragile like hair after too much bleaching, and ripped apart from the slightest tug. So I'm assuming it's not a parasite or worms of some kind but it's caused me some great distress. Now I do have a doctor's appointment at the end of this month for other reasons but obviously I'll bring this up too I'm just looking for some kind of information on this before then.

Hi! You guessed right, it is most likely IBS.

String-like strands in stool can be caused by a variety of conditions, including parasites, food intolerances, inflammatory bowel disease, and certain medications. Other potential causes include irritable bowel syndrome, diverticulitis, celiac disease, and infections. It is important to speak with a healthcare professional to determine the underlying cause.

What did your doctor tell you during the appointment?
