Hello I was wondering if someone could give me an educated guess as to what they think could be the reason for my weak erection. I've had a weak erection for just over a year and the things that may have caused it are depression/anxiety, excessive masturbation or I had used hand sanitizer as lubricant to masturbate. Any and all replies are very appreciate also any tips to help solve may problem are greatly appreciated thanks a bunch.

More information would help people make educated guesses about your issue. Age? Taking any medications? In a relationship? Any medical conditions? Normal blood pressure? Diabetic? etc...

I am just wondering what could be a more probable cause out of depression/anxiety, excessive masturbation or hand sanitizer as lubricant to masturbate. I am 17 and I do not have diabetes and at the time when it had began was a few weeks after i had been diagnosed with depression. Also I am kinda thinking it might be the depression and I was wondering if there are anyone tips as how I may over come this. Thanks

Of everything you listed I'd suspect the depression firs and foremost. The hand sanitizer won't have any lasting effects other than just irritation (if at all) that would go away after a couple of days.

Are you taking any medication for your depression? Most anti-depressants will have an effect on sexual function that could include weak erections or erectile dysfunction. They can also cause delayed ejaculation or none at all (no orgasm).

You are depressed but don't know why or don't have any specific life events to cause depression? If that is the case, welcome to the hormonal confusion of life. You really need to learn how to deal with the mood swings that accompany hormones or you'll spend the rest of your life taking a pill to prevent any discomfort. If the doctor REALLY believes you need medication that I'd never argue against it but really consider how bad yoru case is. Most anti-depressants will alter your brain chemistry and after long term administration you might become physically addicted to them so that you have to take something the rest of your life just to 'feel normal'...whatever normal is.

OK, off the soap box, here's a short list of side effects from Effexor:
Quote:

Abnormal ejaculation, gastrointestinal complaints (nausea, dry mouth, and anorexia), CNS complaints (dizziness, somnolence, and abnormal dreams), and sweating. In the two U.S. placebo-controlled trials, the following additional events occurred in at least 5% of Effexor XR-treated patients (n = 192) and at a rate at least twice that of the placebo group: Abnormalities of sexual function (impotence in men, anorgasmia in women, and libido decreased), gastrointestinal complaints (constipation and flatulence), CNS complaints (insomnia, nervousness, and tremor), problems of special senses (abnormal vision), cardiovascular effects (hypertension and vasodilatation), and yawning.

Anything that caused this many possible side effects would not be worth the benefits for me. I'd rather feel a little sad than loose my sexual function.

Friend,

As per the new research, any anti-depressant medicine has a very good side effect, which is very helpful in maintaining your erection and avoid premature ejaculation. But highly advise to take anti depressant medicine based on any pschycatrist's advise ony.

Your well-wisher.

First and foremost, depression. Find out why, or who caused it, and find someone you can trust, who you can vent to if needed. In grades 4-8 and part of 9, serious depression over a guy (by the way; I'm female) who I really liked and never had the guts to tell. Never told anyone about it but my best friend, and by telling someone who wouldn't just nod or sit there like a doctor, she listened and gave advice, and all of her support and attention made me feel better, and guess what? Over the depression and 3 sweet years with Tim since grade 9. Long story short, find a friend, or someone you trust. It helps and that should get rid of it. Good luck!
