Ok, i am a midwife and i just want to clarify a few things. It is very rare that a pregnancy is determined before 3 weeks. If you had sex two weeks ago and concieved through this, then as stated above, you will be '4 weeks' pregnant. As, irrespective of when you concieve the date is calculated from the first day of your last period.
Even your date scan is determined by your last period. So at the end of your pregnancy- which is 40 weeks (based on the approx)- you have technically had the baby inside of you for 38 weeks.
I hope this clears things up for some of you that didn't believe the previous comment and helps some of you determine any of your questions. If you have any other questions please post and i will help. I am a fully registered midwife and came accross this site as a stroke of luck.

I am 29 years old, I have 3 children and had 1 miscarriage. The miscarriage was in between children 2 & 3. With that miscarriage, I had horrible cramping, extreme bleeding that lasted for weeks and was incredibly tired.
I recently found out that I am pregnant again (just very early - 3 to 4 weeks/going by the first day of my last period). Yesterday, I started spotting with light pink blood, this was a very small amount and did not soak a regular Kotex pad even after 4 hours. I know that early bleeding is possible so this did not really concern me (that much). However, today I am bleeding much more. It only took about 30 minutes to soak the pad with what looks like dark brown blood. I am still not cramping, but I went to the potty and I think I felt something large and different come out. Because I was bleeding badly and the blood is dark brown, when I looked in the toilet I could not see anything other than the brown blood. I am still not cramping and this feels absolutely nothing like the last miscarriage.
Is it possible that this type of bleeding is still normal? I have a sonogram scheduled for next week however, if someone has any idea what is going on I would really appreciate the advice. I know that I am older and already have had children and 1 miscarriage; I am still scared and confused.
Thank you,
Amanda

WHEN you are 2 weeks pregnant, you do not even KNOW.
Pregnancy is counted from your last PERIOD. SO if you miss your period, then you are AUTOMATICALLY 4 weeks pregnant.
You would not get a positive test unless you were 4 weeks pregnant.
How do you know you are pregnant?
i disagree with you because i had my period while pregnant and my doctor first made my due date August 30 and then i had my period again so they changed it to September 17. and born on September 10th. although you cannot find out before 4 weks of pregnancy by test.. you can by ultrasound which is sometimes likely to happen.
NO THE 2 WEEKS ARE THE WEEKS "BEFORE" YOU HAVE SEX SO YOU CANNOT NO YOU ARE PREGNANT. THE 2 WEEKS BETWEEN YOUR PERIOD AND OVULATION ARE COUNTER BEFORE YOU ACTUALLY CONCEIVE. SO AS SOON AS YOU HAVE SEX AND CONCEIVE YOU "START" AT TWO WEEKS PREGNANT. IN OTHER WORDS, IN YOU GO TO THE DOCTOR AND THEY SAY YOU ARE 4 WEEKS PREGNANT, THAT MEANS YOU HAD SEX 2 WEEKS AGO AND HAD YOUR PERIOD 2 WEEKS BEFORE THAT.

Everyone's hormone levels show up at different times on a test based on their levels . There is no certain time as to when a test would or would not show up positive. My mother didn't test positive pregnant with my brother until she was already 5 months. She had a period the whole time until then. With my 2nd child I didn't test positive for pregnancy until I was already 2 months. With my first , it was positive immediately after my missed period.

When my sis-in-law found out she was preggers she thought she was a month along bacause they say you can't tell until then. When she had her first untrasound they told her she was less than a month and therfore she found out she was preggers at 2 weeks.

So not true I found out when i was 2 weeks pregnant i was pregnant by taking a stick test then i went and got a blood test and my doctor told me i was only 2 weeks pregnant. So dan't say something you don't know everyones body is different

i'm an ob/gyn and i can tell you that the only time you add 2 weeks to your pregnancy is to determine your due date. so two weeks after intercoarse means that you are two weeks into your pregnancy. it is true however, that at this stage, if you miscarry there is nothing to see but blood, light and/or dark, and you may or may not get the "typical" symptoms of a misscarriage, as every woman is different. the best thing you can do is to see your doctor. also keep in mind that it is very common for women to bleed during pregnancy and still go on to have healthy and normal pregnancies. good luck.

oh, and i forgot to mention that most women do get a positive preg test at two weeks pregnant.

When you see that just keep an eye out because I had the same thing than it went to bleeding then I started having cramping then I had an miscarriage but I had just went to the doctor earlier that week and everything was fine with the baby. I was almost 3 months when this happened.
