I have been to visit my daughter in hospital today. She is recovering from an operation. Doctors are saying that they use patient controlled analgesia as a method of pain relief. I have noticed that they are giving him drug called tropisetron on his medical list. What is the effect of tropisetron?
PCA (patient controlled analgesia) is often used method for pain relief after the surgery in children older then 7 years. But the problem is that this method usually induces vomiting in patients. Tropisetron is used to prevent vomiting in those cases. It is particularly effective in reducing vomiting during PCA. It has half life 2 or 3 times longer then ondasetron.
