Hi, I have just noticed the other day that I have a painful red bump on my left elbow, and it is raised. Its about 1/4 wide. I showed it to my father and he said it is a ingrown hair. Is this true, because when you look at it you can see a small black dot, like the tip of the hair stuck under the skin. Can anyone tell me what this is and if I can get an std bump on my elbow.I haven't had sex or sexual contact with anyone ever, so I didn't get anything from anyone else. I showed it to my dad and he squeezed it really hard, and it popped the top off and a little puss came out, and I could see the skin underneath, and it didn't bleed at all. so what is this. help shed some light please and thank ya yall!!!!

You can’t have an STD if you have never had oral, vaginal or anal sex. You could actually get herpes if you have kissed a person with visible sores on mouth or had “dry” sex (without penetration) and touched her genitals with visible sores. That way, by rubbing skin to skin, you can get both herpes and another viral infection called HPV.

However, you can’t get an STD on your elbows or hands, so there is no way that your bump is an STD.

Like your father said, it could be an ingrown hair although it is a weird place. Or it could be a pimple but if you can see a hair down under, it must be an ingrown hair.

Ingrown hairs could look like very small bumps (dot like) with white stuff inside of them if they get infected. If they get inflamed, they can turn into large, red and painful bumps.
