That how frugal are you post last week got me thinking....I'm pretty good at buying store brand stuff or at least what's on sale that week in things that really don't matter, but there are a couple things that are worth the extra cash:

REAL Vermont Maple Syrup, none of that Mrs. Butterworth's stuff! I don't eat pancakes that often, but when I do...mmmmm...I get mine at the health food store but Trader Joe's carries it too.

Coffee. We rarely buy it at the grocery store anymore, or at least not the c**p in the cans. We drink enough that we really like a good cup so it's worth it to get specialty stuff, fresh beans, etc. Our farmer's market has great coffee so I usually stock up when I'm there.

Philosophy shampoo and conditioner--I use other stuff also because it's a little on the pricey side, but I have found nothing else that makes my hair as soft and shiny.

So, what's yours? It doesn't have to be food, just anything you feel that the quality is worth the extra cost.
Parmesan Cheese. Absolute necessity, for pasta Toilet Paper, whether I need it or nor, I buy 4 rolls every week Good Running Gear, shoes, sox, etc

Oooh, I forgot about the cheese!! If you ever come up to run with us at Forbidden Drive, I'll have to take you into Chestnut Hill, their cheese shop has the BEST Parmesan on the planet, and they'll fresh grate it for you or sell it in a block to grate your own. SLURP!

Laundry detergent and fabric softener. When I was young and living alone I bought the cheap stuff for a few weeks and my wardrobe never looked crappier! Have splurged on the good stuff ever since. socks I like nice socks, I cannot lie. No holes, no thin spots, must be white.

the kids' daycare. We pat a sh$tload for Sweet Pea's - it's the most expensive in town - but until we can find something else as good for less she will stay there.

Beer. (not German or Belgium, ever again)
Coffee (I won't even buy French Roast)
Cheese (No French Cheese, though)
Running Gear
Wine (I don't go crazy, but I will by the decent stuff, but not French ever again).
Meat (except Hamburgers :P )

And Daycare, I pay college tuition worth of daycare per year :( )

Meat and fish, especially fish (it's gotta be fresh!)
Shoes; I'm on my feet a lot during the day so I don't mind spending more for well-made, really comfortable shoes.
Bread
Tools and utensils; for both inside and outside the house.

For the family, good medical care. Living where we do, there is no shortage of good medical care. Doctors have been real good to our entire family.

Thorlo running socks are about the only thing I buy that is top of the line. I don't skimp on running shoes either but I'll still shop around for a deal. I worked hard for my money and like to keep as much of it as possible.

Daycare - we got lucky. Great place and one of the less expensive.
Beer & wine - I will gladly pay more for the good stuff, although I get everything at cost, so I still pay less than all of you suckers!
Shoes - running, dress, or casual, I will gladly pay double or more for comfort and lsting quality.
