Well I jokingly asked Little Poky if she wanted her ears pierced. She was all for it especially since she found out her older sister just got hers pierced.
I just knew she would change her mind
after it was explained to her how bad it hurt, but noooooooooooo
so we went, she didn't cry and is very proud of her new earrings.
Little Poky is now a brazen hussy. :(
this same 4 yr old won't watch a Dora the Explorer video because of a scary witch

The rule in our house was the day before their 8th birthday. That goes for boys too, I don't discriminate. My 7.5 yo son turns 8 in January and is already planning. I told him that he has to get both ears pierced. <smile> He's thrilled. I've already begun cautioning him about kids teasing. He thinks it will be cool. I may have to rethink the two ears rule.
That is one rule we have not settled on. I got mine pierced at 10 and I think will work for Olivia. No make up until she is 16, though.
Abby got them for her 3rd birthday (she could not sooner due to her constant surgeries)
Hannah her first birthday. She had short hair for a long time and I was tired of people calling her a boy. Plus it looks very cute.

I had my daughter's ears pierced at 2. She cried bloody murder every time I tried to put the earrings in....I'm waiting now until she's around 7. If had the chance to do it again, I would have had her ears pierced when she was new born.
Mine aren't pierced and I don't remember when my sister's got pierced. Kaylee's will be pierced probably one day when I am not paying attention.
Kim was 7, we waited for her to ask us though.
i got mine done when i was 5.
My daughters will get their ears pierced when the turn 10 or older. I got mine pierced at 10 and that's what I decided that they would do (if their dad agrees with this as well). Anyway, there are few "Rites of Passage" IMO. This is one of them in my book.
BTW. My oldest has been asking to get hers pierced for over a year.

I would let her get her ears pierced at anytime. I got my ears pierced when I was 3 months old. If she wants them let her get them because if she doesn't like them they can always heal over and look like they have never been pierced.
Got my first set at nine, second at fourteen. I'm not a parent, but I'd make sure that the piercee is ready to do the maintenance.
