Why not get the beach action (sun, sand, surf, adult beverages) in the Mediterranean? There are approximately 1 gazillion Greek islands. Ouzo and Metaxa won't take too many drachmas (or Euros) out of your purse.

How about Belize? Or the Italian Riviera? Or what about St. Lucia.
I'd avoid Port-au-Prince (and Haiti in general) right now....What a shame. Such a beautiful country, squandered of it's rainforests.

In december I was looking at going there and the Travel agent said that they weren't as nice as they used to be due to a hurricane and that the crime rates were pretty high as well. :shrug: I don't know if that is the case or not but I wanted to pass it on.

I've heard that if you like snorkeling or scuba diving, Belize is the place to be. And if you get tired of spectacular underwater scenery, you can always head inland and visit Maya ruins.
