Hi all, I had this for a year and worked out a really easy solution. Buy 'freederm spot facial wipes'. Shave the pubic hair off and then wipe the area for a few minutes with the wipes. Do this in the morning and before bed for 1-2 weeks. The new pubes will grow back free of the crust.

I too get this from time to time. From what I have read, it is a harmless bacterial infection. The bacteria feed off of the nitrogen and fatty compounds in sweat, then grow in a mat that coats the shafts of the public hair (like the bacteria that grow on our teeth when we don't brush). From what I have heard, trimming the hair short, scrubbing with a soapy washcloth, hydrogen peroxidez, and drying powder will alleviate the issue. To completely eradicate the bacteria, a topical antibiotic can be used (not necessary). I personally switched to moisture wicking athletic boxers, trimmed with a clipper, and use baby powder.
