I'm a 21 year old girl. I'm a virgin but have indulged in some sexual activity. I haven't indulged in sex, oral or otherwise. For the last 11 years I have been using a strong jet of water to masturbate. I didn't realise that it would injure my sex organs. About 2-3 months ago, I noticed a white patch of skin on my vulva. It was just as soft as the surrounding skin but discoloured to white. Today, I saw that it has become puckered and scaly like a sore or ulcer. I'm not sure if it is sensitive but the skin around it is painful. There was no pain when I touched the sore itself. When I close my legs tightly, I can feel discomfort there. I'm afraid of what this sore is. Could it be cancerous? Will it heal automatically if I leave it alone and stop masturbating? Please help me.

Hi crazzy4, I highly doubt that masturbating with the shower or any other kind of masturbation has had anything to do with it! It is more likely to be caused by some other condition that can be treated, you say it has a white scaly appearance does it itch at all and is there any redness to it?

No itching but there is redness around the sore. I think it is because of the shower because that's where I'd concentrate it. The skin had broken there a few times. I've also had complaints of white discharge and itching that doctors said was a yeast infection lots of times. Probably more times than normal girls but as I said, I'm not sexually active. Just some making out, some fingering once in a while.

Can you explain exactly where on your vulva it actually is? When you have been to the doctors about the discharge before did they give you anything to use to clear it up?

It is on the outer fold of my labia minora on the right side close to the clitoris. The doctors gave me an ointment called Candid-B every single time. The last time I had been to the doctor she had though I had injured the spot where I now have the sore due to itching caused by the infection. She touched it asked if it hurt but I don't think I felt anything. I'm not even sure I felt her touching it. It was quite some time back so I don't remember clearly.

I'm not 100% sure but what your describing sounds like you could have an external fungus/yeast infection, I take it that it was only ointment she gave you to treat the external yeast infection and nothing to treat any internal vaginal yeast infection.

Yes only ointment. I'm not sure it has spread to my vagina...? Could that have been caused by the fingering?

And what about the scaly skin on my vulva?

You said in one of your earlier posts that you had some discharge to that is all to do with internal external yeast infection, the scaly skin on your vulva would all be caused by the yeast infection I expect.

Should I see a doctor about it? There might be a lot of uproar about this at home so I'd really rather do anything else if possible.
