My boyfriend and I did not have sex, yet while we were fooling around, he put his penis at the opening of my vagina and slightly pushed against me. While he made no effort to put himself inside of my vagina, I couldn't help but feel discomfort, even pain. I am a virgin, but I also do not think I have a hymen. (I think my hymen is either completely broken from possibly an accident during childhood, or I may have been born without one.) If this is the case, then why would it hurt when my boyfriend did this? If anyone understands what I'm attempting to explain, then please let me know what you think. Thank you for responding.
Hi,
First of all, as long as you don't know for sure, you might really have an unbroken hymen. Take a mirror and look, pull your inner vaginal lips open and if you see anything blocking the entrance (partially) then you have a hymen.
Even if it's broken, it might not be entirely broken and that's why it hurt. Try inserting two or three fingers and you will feel if it's still there.
If there's no hymen or it is broken, then the pain might have come from stretching the ring of muscle that is right at the entrance to the vagina. Since it has never been stretched before by something so big as a penis, it will hurt the first time, so you have to go slowly and use extra lubrication.
