Me too. I also shed tears every time I used a bathroom. In elementary school I barely noticed that, but as I grew older it started to interfere with my everyday's life. I even suspected that I experienced some kind of trauma early in the childhood and went to a school shrink. She was very comforting and explained me that this is just my body's reaction which is involuntary for now. Since that meeting, I'm trying to regain the control of my tear duct and I can proudly say that I now cry only once or twice during the week. I see that as a great win!
I think that every one of you can do the same if you are persistent enough and if your problem isn't caused by some kind of health issue. Just stick to the exercises you can find online.

I can’t seem to find an answer. I don’t think it matters really it might cause confusion but if there is no pain it’s not worth all the hassle of searching since no one has a good answer.

Does anyone's eyes really sting as well? I describe it as having onion juice dripped into them

I am 34 year old male and I've had this "problem" for all my life. I tear up almost always while urinating and most of the times while defecating (I think it's because you do also urinate while defecating). Nobody in my family has the same issue.

I myself never considered this to be a problem until recently. Couple weeks ago I was diagnosed with "chronic urinary retention" which means that the bladder does not do it's job as a muscle and retains most of the urine (around 500 to 700 ml), this in turn leads to all sorts of problems (infections, fever etc.). To be honest I have always felt like the amount of urine coming out was somewhat small. The only cure for this is to do an intermittent self-catheterisation every day, for the remainder of my life.

Since the inability of a bladder to compress is definitely a neurological problem, I decided to look more into the teary eyes stuff and found this forum. By reading the comments I think the signal of the brain that must lead to telling the bladder to compress, leads to my eyes tearing up.

P.S. Feels somehow comforting to know that I am not alone in this

I didn't think about this aspect of it! Thank you for chiming in and sharing your thoughts. I've wondered what caused this to happen to me for so long. I am 33/F and my husband always forgets that this happens to me and questions me when my eyes look watery. *Sigh*

I’m 25 and just found out that this isn’t normal yesterday! I thought that your body (including eyes) relaxed when you pee and it just caused your eye muscles to relax and they leak your eye juice. IM SO DUMB. Yesterday, My coworker asked me what was wrong when I came out of the bathroom and I just told her that I really had to pee. She was confused so then I was too. And I asked if that happens to her too and she said no. I literally asked my whole family if it happens to them and everyone just stared at me like I was some alien! I have no idea why this happens to me. The strange thing I noticed is that the more I have to pee (like when I’m about to pee my pants ) and I finally go, my eyes water way more and they actually drip tears. my usual pees just make my eyes watery but not to the point where tears roll out, but when I really gotta go then bam! I have to use TP to dry my eyes/face. This doesn’t happen to me when I poop, only pee

I just found out it’s rare also and didn’t know it was a problem. Funny thing for me though…. It happens to my mom, it happens to all of my siblings and myself and I passed it down to my children also. I cannot remember a time it hasn’t happened!!

On a positive note… it help with lunricating my contacts lol.

Mine do the same for as long as I can remember. Especially when I really need to use it in class and teachers say no. The tears start to come out. My friends and teachers be asking me if I'm alright. I can't control. I thought I was the only one. If y'all find the answer please let me know.
