Ok i have also had this same problem since i can remember. But do you sometimes have trouble going #2?

There are nerves in your sphincter that are triggered when you go they are the same ones that send the message to your brain to produce tears

Male 29

I have had the same issue since i was a little kid & like many other posters have thought I was the only one, lol.

Mine is 99% during urination & about 25% with bowel movements.

I am 34 and male. Same problem since I was very little. I have a daughter who is 6 and she inherited the trait from me... I must say it is genetic. Whether or not it is a problem is a matter of perspective I suppose, but certainly it is not the norm. Not many men are comfortable with tearing up at the urinal.

I've been trying to figure out why this happens for a long time now. I'm 30 and have always teared up when I have a BM. It doesn't happen to me during urination. It doesn't bother me at all. In fact I like that it gives me a great excuse not to have an SO come in the bathroom with me during my "library" time. I just make sure I have tissue on deck to wipe the tears before they fall.

I was interested in knowing why it happens so I googled it. Nothing! Maybe I'll ask my doctor at my next visit. It is interested to read that it's hereditary. My father also tears up!

I am 31 years old and I too have done this all my life! I was told that when you go #2, the pushing uses muscles in your face that "tell" your tear ducts to create tears!! Idk if its true, but its a start. I've never had a problem with it, just always wondered why?

I found out (this is gonnna sound really gross but sorry!!) that in your anal sphinctor you have three areas that hit the same part of your brain that tells your tear ducts to create tears.

I have the same problem is there a medical term for this? Its kinda weird...but my eyes only tear up during #2. o.O Im surprise im not the only one

I've been doing this (mostly during#2) since I was a baby, and still am (I'm 40). All my sons do too. I've got another weird thing though. Does doing #1 occasionally make any of you sneeze and your nose run? It sometimes does to me, and THAT's annoying (and if I'm not careful, painful. o.O

I thought I was the only one! My eyes get really watery when I have to urinate, like when I am really pressed. The more I hold it, the more I 'cry'.

I hope it does not have any side effects or something ..
