I have a pea sized lump on the right side of my mouth where my tonsils used to be. I was 7 when i had them taken out, This lump grows in size when i have a sore throat and can be quite painful otherwise it gives me no pain at all. My dentist says it could be tonsil tissue that has grow back but it worries me. My doctor says he can see nothing, but hes an id**t and gives you no time of day. I can see it, its a pea sized yellow lump, it has swollen the right side of the back of my mouth to the point where the arched bit it close to my 'clack' (Dangly bit at the back). Im a little concerned incase its anything major, does anyone suffer with the same thing? Thanks x x x
It is possible that your dentist have right. When you had surgery of removing your tonsils it is quite possible that some tissue has remained so by time it has regenerated itself. But don’t worry they can’t grow back to its full size and give you the same problems as they did before removal.
If you still suffer from sore throat this doesn’t mean that this tissue is causing this problems. You are now more sensitive and you must take care better of your health.
Since you are not satisfied with your doctor change him. Seek second opinion and say to your new doctor your suspicions.
Let us know what has happened in the end. Did your tonsils really grew back or this was something else.
