It has always been said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Sadly, using today’s makeup products beauty can come with some dangerous side effects from the chemical found in makeup.

Toxins Hiding in Your Beauty Products

With so much information available to the general public, one would think that the public would know more about the products that they buy. Tough economic times force the consumer to cut cost on products that they once spent a lot of money to own. The lack of money has also encouraged the manufactures of consumer goods to cut corners and quality of products. Unfortunately, you always get what you pay for and buying cheaper, less expensive beauty products and food may come with a very deadly price tag.

Beauty Begins In the Inside of Your Body

The U.S Government allows a scant amount of some pretty harsh chemicals in its makeup products. There are even worse hazards that can be found in our food. America is the only country that allows poisons in our personal care items and Genetically Modifies its food for human consumption.  It is ironic with the rise of Acne and other skin conditions, may just be caused by the food that we eat.

Genetically Modified Organizations are Meeting Consumer Demand

Genetically Modified Organizations, GMO, are under attack due to the practice of increasing the production of food. Among many other topics, there are two topics that stand out and are widely discussed over internet:

  • Cows can now lactate at 6 weeks of age. Biologically, calves should not be able to produce food until they are at least 6 months old. The milk consumed from these calves are infused with steroids, growth hormones, and antibiotics.
  • Wheat used to make up the main stay of our diets: breads, pasta, flour, etc., has the DNA of weed killer implanted into genetically modified seeds.

Our bodies are not designed to break down the synthesized components that are now found in our foods. Evidence of the build up of these toxins in our bodies are becoming apparent:

  • Adult acne has become a problem: even in people that never had acne during puberty are now learning how to have clear skin.
  • The body shapes of the younger generation are not normal. And, also, the younger generation is showing signs of age at a very young age: it is odd to see a 15 year old with Crows Feet.

It is best to use the most Organic products that you can find or provide it for yourself. Usually when a consumer learns about the contents found in the products that they buy most are genially shocked.

Unfortunately, America has become an instant gratification society: we want instant results, right now. So, the manufactures are only trying to meet the needs of a demanding public.

What Are The Hazardous Materials Found In Makeup?

Makeup and especially skin care are so technologically advanced that they tell the skin how to do its job. It is the intention of advanced beauty products to cause a chemical injury to the skin. This injury causes the body to step up and begin to start healing the slight wound. Although, you can’t really see what is going on, but this is how some makeup and skin care is designed. Some of the chemicals are very strong, and like many other things, and can contribute to cancer.

How Do I Know What Dangerous Chemicals Are in My Makeup?

It would take up a few pages to list all of the chemicals that are found in makeup and that harmful. If you have concerns, you can start doing your own research and investigated the product labels of the beauty products that you already own. The ingredients are listed from the most active to the least harmful. Here is a small list of some of these common but harsh chemicals:

  • Hydroquinone: Also know as Alpha Hydroxy Acids used to help lighten skin and can contribute to cancer
  • Formaldehyde: Ensures the purity of cosmetics and poses a caner risk
  • Toluene: Petroleum based paint thinner and possibly toxic to the immune system
  • Parabens: A preservative in which many people are highly allergic
  • Sodium Laurel Sulfate: A widely used foaming agent that is currently under review
  • Aluminum Oxide: A heavy metal used in many beauty products and suspected to contribute to some forms of dementia

You can do your research easily with the help of the Environmental Working Group Deep Skin Database. This website is loaded with a wealth of information about toxic skin care. Also, compare the ingredients found on your makeup bottles with scientific information found on the Federal Department of Agriculture website.

What Can You Do About Toxic Makeup?

Although many beauty companies claim to have natural makeup, the word ‘natural’ does not always mean that it is safe. Likewise, the term ‘Organic’ does not mean that it is perfectly harmless. They are many things that you can find in your yard that are 100% Organic but it dose not mean that it should be rubbed all over the face. Even the mineral makeup that so many people are currently using, it may be natural, but natural dose not ensure that it is safe.  Mineral makeup is made up of heavy minerals that are found in the earth. Ingredients such as iron, titanium, and zinc are not something that should be used all over the face. There is no makeup or over the counter skin care that is completely safe.

But, with the harsh radiation from the sun and the free radicals that can attach to your skin, you have to choose the lesser of the two evils. It would be better if you protect your skin from those elements  than using beauty products that may or may not cause cancer.

Be a smart consumer and do a little research on the products that are in your bathroom. Get rid of the products with the most harmful ingredients and choose a safer product.
