I am now in that situation as well my odds are a little greater that i am pregnant because i've been off bc for 3 wks. the first week was my period but other 2 i have been off of it not by choice just bad communication with refills and dr.office being close on weekend and holidays...and money but ne way me and my bf had unprotected sex and he THINKS he may have got a little bit in me...so that was over a week ago and i could be feeling implantation..not sure yet..BUT some of you that keep having neg. preg. test you should go see your gynacologist because for months i kept having irregular periods and pain during sex then i kept having bad cramps on one side and my back hurt. I of course bought a c**p load of tests and just kept taking them all coming back neg. But i figured it just wasn't the right timing. My gynacologist said my bc wasn't strong enough to keep my ovaries asleep thats why i kept having irregular periods. I even brought up what I thought another possibility could be to her and she said it wasn't. Well i kept having more severe pain so i went to an urgent care then the ER..come to find out I had a cyst on my ovary..There are many types of cysts...look up some info on ovarian cysts and if you have the same problem get an ultrasound done and that will be able to tell for sure. this might be the case for myself but not too sure yet...Hope this helps.

Seems to be a trait with NuVaring.

I got off about 2 weeks ago.. and my nipples are SOO tender. I also experience a EXCRUCIATING cramp that lasted about 10 mins while I was driving home. Def too soon to buy a PT since i just had my period a week ago... Anyone know what the deal is?

Let me try to break down my sinario which is very similar to everyone else's! I started birth control about two years ago since my periods were so bad I would occassionally vomit. In September (2 months ago) I went off birth control, and the following month, I got my period the exact day I would have expected to as IF I WERE on birth control, though the regular, nauseaus period I had before going on birth control. Since then (another month and nearly 2 weeks) I have not had my period, which is very late! A week late, I took a pregnancy test, even though I had protected sex, and it was clearly negative. Now I'm experiencing soreness in my nipples, but only when I touch them as well. After taking the pregnancy test I'm 99% convinced I'm not pregnant but am still making an appt. with my Gyno to ask questions and figure out why this pill has screwed everything up so much. It literally manipulates your whole body. It's probably not a good idea to manipulate a natural cycle in your body that has been naturally occurring for thousands and thousands of years in women. I'm going to strongly consider and weigh the pros and cons of birth control before 1.getting my period back! and 2. returning to the pill.

I HOPE I HELPED! I researched and it all seems to be quite common, sadly. Always confirm that you are NOT pregnant if you're unsure, and set up an appt., it could never hurt.

I like you woman are in the same boat. Testing negative and experiencing cramping. I think the best thing for all of us to do is to take a blood HCG count. Depending on how anal your obgyn or gp (general practitioner) is, you may be able to just call and request this blood test. Either in there office or at a CPL( clinical pathologist laboratories).

I look forward to hearing what your results are...

I believe that all the women who might be feeling that they are having early signs of pregnancy might be mistaking them for signs of your period because you have come off birth control and your periods can be irregular for a couple cycles so if you have taken a pregnancy test and it is negative then I don't think you need to worry about it that much. Your body is probably just adjusting to coming off birth control and your cycle may be a little irregular meaning you will have a period maybe 2 weeks after getting off birth control and then again maybe 4 weeks later or something. I have heard this is normal and what to expect when first getting off birth control. So I would just give it a couple months and then your cycle should return to it's normal pattern before birth control.

I have been off the Nuva Ring for two months now. I got the copper IUD a month ago. Had a pregnancy test before I got the IUD. Negative of course. I'm off of all hormones. My nipples are really really freakin sore! I have no idea why. It's so annoying! I have no other symptoms but the sore nipples. It takes 3 months for the hormones from birth control to get completely out of your system so I think that this is a normal transition from getting off of hormones. If your boobs are still sore after 3 months I would talk to your doctor. If you have a doctors visit before that time I would briefly mention it in passing just to be safe and see what he or she has to say about it. If you do please share it here and let us all know what they said.

You can get pregnant RIGHT AFTER STOPPING BIRTH CONTROL.

SO if any of you have had unprotected sex, you should take a pregnancy test.

i'm 17 years old and i just quit taking my birth control about 4 days ago and my nipples are extremely sore...i'm tryin to get pregnant...but other women have my problem with the tender nipples and are not pregnant, could that just be due to the fact that we quit or birth contol and our horomones are coming back to normal now...please help i'm very confused and i need someone to answer my question....it would mean alot... thanks
very confused...

This is for the 17 yr old why in gods name do you want to get pregnant? Your to young and ignorant to have a child not being mean but honest. Really think about what your saying if its a guy and your thinking he'll stand by you not likely in your situation. WAIT go to school get your education, get a job, buy house, get married, THEN have a child

Hi
I stopped my pill three weeks ago. I had my withdrawal period immediatly after and now roughtly three weeks later my nipples are extremly sensitive and boobs are tender. It doesnt feel so bad anymore it actually only lasted aboyt 5 days. I also have acne breakouts on my face at the moment. Could it be that I am going to start my period soon or could it be pregnancy. I had unproctected sex a month ago. I think its too soon for a home based pregnency test so the worrying really sucks. I mean i am at work at the moment and stessing about this.

any advice

hi,,i am really experiencing this kind of situation,,,i just quit taking pills last aug 28..after i finished the whole pack of tricyclene.of course after i finished my period too..3 weeks after i felt sore in my breast and nipples,,,and lower back pain in the morning..me and my boyfriend had 2-4 times sex,and he always pulled out when hes coming,,but honestly he didnt finish coz hes scared too because i told him i stop taking my pills because of my personal problem in life that i dont think i dont have time for sex..the only thing that scared us is the pre-ejaculate sperm which can cause pregnancy too.so i took the test yesterday which is 1 week before my period,it shows negative..if next week ,,i didnt get my period yet,,i will take a home pregnancy test again...if its negative again-i will see my doctor..and i will ask him how to go back to my pills again...i dont want to be crazy like this again.. well goodluck to us women..

Not only can you get pregnant right after coming off of the pill, but you can also get pregnant while on the pill (lots of people do). The pill only decreases your chances and ability to get pregnant when having unprotected sex (part of why you should always double up by using a condom, too). Further, if you take birth control sporadically and NOT at night time, then you will likely increase your chances of getting pregnant while on birth control.

As far as all of the negative pregnancy tests go, most at home tests can tell within two weeks of your first missed period, which should roughly be three weeks after the time you would have been most fertile and susceptible to getting pregnant. I usually take multiple pregnancy tests spaced out by a few days in between each one before determining that I officially do not think I'm pregnant.

The nipple pain, cramps, etc. is likely just your bodies responding to the hormonal change. After having gone off and on several types of birth control over the years, I have definitely faced any number of similar side effects as you have. I'm very lean and going on birth control usually makes me get my period twice in one four week time, where without birth control I usually go 50 to 60 days without a period and am entirely pms free. All that being said, I've never once had a medical professional think that is abnormal, or balk in any way shape or form at that information. When you introduce additional hormones to your body in a very cyclical nature, your body is bound to react.

Additionally, a lot of women feel when they are ovulating, which may very well be what you're reacting to (especially if you're having an increased sex drive).

In summary, you can totally get preggers so keep taking those tests, but I wouldn't sweat it. 8

If it's any comfort, I've been experiencing the nipple tenderness symptoms after going off nuva ring about 3 weeks ago, and I'm definitely not pregnant. It's been almost 6 months since I last had sex. This seems to be a common symptom after quitting birth control.

I've had the exact same thing - nipple soreness and cramping - also lower back pain. Because we are just going off the pill our bodies are finally being allowed to fully ovulate and i think that's what it is. I also had nausea and headaches. Maybe it's just my body going thru withdrawals from all the hormones - it was my first time off the pill in 13 years. I went off because my period was basically nothing anymore and i thought a good old-fashioned hormone-free period might help. It's due next week so we will see. My boyfriend thinks i'm pregnant because of the mood swings and we had unprotected sex a couple times but i really don't think so because i didn't see any implantation spotting. Plan to go back on the pill after i get a normal period again!
