Hi, my wife is 36 years old and her doctor suggested hystaretmie. We are married for 12 years and we have son and daughter. I heard it is very dangerous operation and many women never recovered from that. I don't know what I would say to her and how to support her when I know that her health will be so badly damaged.
Hi, I guess you were thinking about hysterectomy when you post this message. A hysterectomy is the basically removal of the uterus. Hysterectomy may be total (removing the body and cervix of the uterus) or partial. In some cases ovaries are removed with uterus and than it is "total abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy. You didn't say what the reason for such operation is so I can't tell if only uterus will be removed or ovaries also. Anyway if they do not remove ovaries your wife will feel better because her hormonal status won’t be upset too much.
In the other case she will have to use hormonal therapy to balance lack of hormones in her body.
Anyway you have to support your wife because this is not the end of her life and many women live quality lives after this surgical procedure. Also she already had children so this fact may help you to feel better.
