I am 51 and have been suffering for about 4 years with an undiagnosed pain under my right ribs.I have had 3 episodes in 4 years.None of my doctors except the last one I've seen has helped me.She is a neurologist the er doctor sent me to for extreme weakness. She said she checked me for everything bad and said all my tests were normal except my vitamin d is very low.She put me on prescription vitamin d for 12 weeks.I started feeling better after 4 weeks of it,but last Thursday my side started hurting again and I can't eat much. Then I discovered undigested meat in my stool (gross, I know) I looked it up online and it said the only cause is chronic pancreatitis.I read up on it and it sounds like a painful death sentence! I'm so scared! I'm calling my Doctor in the morning and fill her in. Does someone out there have the same symptoms?I took a prednisone pill I had for poison ivy to see if that helped. My pain has never been severe enpugh to go to the hospital for it.I had my gallbladder out 3 years ago because I thought that was my problem, I guess I was wrong.Any advice woul be appreciated! Thanks!
Hi there, I would recommend that you take internet diagnoses with a grain of salt. These search engines for health problems are frequently wrong, and they usually go for the worst possible symptoms! If you are feeling pain on your right side, that is not even where your pancreas is, so it's probably not a pancreas issue. I would of course say you should talk to your doctor about the problem--but don't worry about it being pancreatitis. Let me know how your doctor visit goes!

Absolutely NO PROBLEM at all! That's what I"m here for so I'm glad to hear you at least feel better. That makes me feel better too :) When is your next appointment?

My Appointment is Monday 8-31-09. I'm feeling better, I've cut out gluten from my diet 3 days ago. The area around my liver is still sore though. I always get better in between attacks and feel fine until the next go-round knocks me out again.

Hey can you let me know how you're doing? What did your doctor say? I'd like to hear how everything went, okay?
