I WAKE ABOUT 4 TO 5 EVERY MORNING. BURNING CRAMPS IN MOSTLY LOWER ABDOMEN, I ALSO GET VERY HOT AND SOMETIMES BREAK OUT IN A SWEAT. I HAVE TO LOWER THE HEAT TO ABOUT 65 AND DURING THE DAY I HAVE IT SET AT 72. I CAN RELIEVE IT SOME IF I GET UP AND PEE OR EVEN EXPEL SOME. AIR. I HAVE HAD A COLONOSCOPY, ENDOSCOPY I'VE SWALLOWED THE CAMERA, WHAT ELSE.? I CAN'T BELIEVE SO MANY PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME. I AM 84 YEARS OLD, I HAVE HAD THIS FOR OVER A YEAR. SOME DR PLEASE READ AND RESPOND. I DO HAVE A CHRONIC CONSTIPATION PROBLEM.
I have a similar pain. I had a C-Sec 9 years ago. I have had a dull ache in the lower right quadrant of my abdomen for that time. They said it was from scar tissue pain for the C-Section. I got shots into the area and felt better for 6 weeks. Then the pain returned with a vengeance. I wake up everY night in severe pain at 4-5 am. I got another series of shots and it did not touch the pain. I will be going back in for more shots. The theory is it is scar tissue wrapped around a abdominal nerve at night the muscles contract, the scar tissue contract, your intestines fill with gas and you have a perfect storm of pain. The lidocaine shotsuppose to numb the area and break down the scar tissue around the nerve.
I have the same symptoms and just wanted to tell you that I had a prolapsed uterus at age 40 and had to have a hysterectomy. I am now 69. The largest change for me is a new copper pipe in my basement and evidently evidence of high copper in my water. I also have a medication that has these symptoms for urinary problems (Calan SR) - I would suggest you check out your water and also check out side effects of any meds you are taking.
He suffers with severe abdominal cramps at nite only they from 5 and end at 6 7 the next morning doctors have found nothing wrong with him can any one help plz
I'm desperately trying to help my bby
I had similar problem. It seems that I get it after being on high carb diet for few months. doctors telling me that I do not have enough good bacteria in my intestines. They say it is all gas. I also get if I walk for 30 min while having full stomach. Once stomach releases food pain goes away. I sometimes try to fast after 6:00 pm and sometimes it helps. Doctors think it is all in your head So you need to rely on yourself in managing the situation. Also learn to take a nap during the day. This will be backup solution once you get the pain at night and you cannot fall back to sleep.
I may have an answer! - at least for some of you. i've had similar symptoms for about 20 years and tried all the doctors, tests etc. Now I think (fingers crossed) I have come up with something that works - at least I have been almost pain-free for about a month after trying it. Before it was almost every night, about 4 or 5 hours after going to bed. I'll describe what to do here, its very easy, but first I want to point out that I am not a doctor and have no medical experience. Also these symptoms may be caused by different things in different people, so what works for me may not have any effect for you, and I apologise for getting your hopes up, but its worth a try as it doesn't cost anything and is very simple.
So I noticed that if i got out of bed and walked around a bit, the pain would reduce. I also noticed that before getting out of bed, my intestinal area was completely silent, but after walking around, there were some tiny gurgling noises - just the usual tummy rumblings that everyone has. It occurred to me that perhaps the problem is not inside the bowel and intestines, but outside - something pressing on them and constricting them. Another clue was that on a few occasions, i woke up after only a short time - about half an hour or so. I noticed that my stomach muscles were really tensed up - sort of like a muscle that is almost, but not quite, getting cramp. It wasn't hurting, but i could feel it really tight. I could easily relax it. So i thought, I wonder if this is happening and constricting my intestines. So here is what i tried:When i lay down to sleep, i deliberately concentrated on relaxing the muscles around the stomach area. Now, its not easy to feel if you are relaxing them because you don't see or feel anything, you are just trying to do it. I remembered some advice for people who have trouble sleeping - they should start by relaxing their toes, then their ankles, calves, knees, etc - concentrating on each bit. So I did this with the stomach muscles, even though I didn't notice whether anything was changing or not.
And i had no pain! I tried again the next night and same result -morning came with very little pain - perhaps 10% of what it was. I've been doing this for about a month now. Occasionally, if i wake up with the start of the pain, I can relax then, and it has gone away. However, you do need to concentrate to relax - its easy when you are sleepy to forget to keep it up. But it only seems to need to be for about 10 or 15 minutes. You can also do it before going to bed - say while watching TV - it might help. Good luck!
I have this problem to the day, I might have a solution for some(not all).
What I do is when I get the pains, I get up out of bed. I go to the bathroom and rinse my mouth with toothpaste so I get a strong mint taste in my mouth for what follows. I then go to the kitchen and then grab some Baking Soda and Water and pour half a glass of water, then put about 1 1/2 tsp of Baking soda in the water. I mix and then drink. It is kinda hard to swallow sometimes as the mixture itself is revolting hence the toothpaste. And then I go back to bed and lie down. You will start burping a lot which is what this mixture does. If that doesn't work, I suggest getting a tube of Gaviscon for yourself. A nice chewy pill that makes your stomach ease up a bit.
Hope it helps.
My stomach never feels quite right in the daytime but nights are much worse. I wake up every night with a bad pain in the solar plexus region a couple of hours after going to sleep. I make a cup of hot milk, drink that, with luck produce a large burp, go to sleep again and the same happens another two hours or so later. When I went to the doctor with a severe bout of heartburn, she sent me off to hospital for investigation. Over a period of time, they did a series of tests: ultrasound, gastroscopy x 2, camera fed through nose x 2, MRI (which found I had diverticular disease) and I was prescribed various medications: Nexium (Esomeprazole), Motilium (Domperidone), Lansoprazole and Ranitide (Zantac), all without result. The tests showed that I don’t have helicobacter pilori but some of the alveoli in my lungs have collapsed. I have tried sleeping in an armchair because the pain goes when I am upright. That didn’t work – I need to be horizontal to sleep. I’ve had this problem now for a number of years and, judging by all the other entries here, it’s widespread and probably not life-threatening. That’s not to say that you should not get it investigated thoroughly just in case. Unfortunately though, I’m no nearer to a cure but there might be something in the burping theory! Good luck everyone.
Huh that's really weired cuz I have the same problem but my stomach only hurts at night or while I'm standing up does. I also have heartburn but it's not bad. Does any one have any tips?
I have very similar issues , i was just wondering how you were getting on now? i was interested in the laxative pills as a way of relieving the gas build up at night. Very interested in how your getting on?
Same thing, wake up around 2ish with a pain directly behind my belly button that really aches. After 4 nights went to emergency, the did a CT scan and found nothing, they did say something about varicose vein type things in the stomach, but the symptom for that is when you are standing you have pain. Has it 5 weeks ago and went away, my DR. gave me tylenol 3 for the pain. NOW it is back...last night same thing, up till 4 till tylenol kicked in. It is helped a bit by sleeping upright. Any help would be appreciated.
What was the result?
