I am a 25 yr ols female... right after I had my son two and a half years ago I started experiance painless muscle spasms also... They started out in my lower abdomen and felt exactly like a baby kicking. After lots of wasted money on pregnancy tests and doctors visits I really assumed it was some kind of post partum in wich i subconcionsly wanted to be pregnant or something. I even went to a pshychiatrist who supported my theory. However the spams have now been in different areas of my abdomen, obv iously visible and almost constant. I have looked up everything online... I was very concerned because I had also been a heavy drinker. They are still daily even right now... completely painless, just annoyng and concerning. Unfortunately after reading forum after forum on the subject and no answers I am hopeless to recieve one but relieved to hear that I am not alone, and neither are you. I am going to see a doctor this week...

I am so happy that I found this forum!! I have been having the same symptoms; no pain what so ever, but my abdominal area keeps twitching and jumping constantly. I can feel it as well as see it and it has been occurring on and off for about a week and a half now. I already took several pregnancy test and I am positive that they were all accurate and it does not feel like any gas Ive ever had. The easiest way I can describe it is similar to the sensations I would have while I was carrying my daughter, but that was almost 3 years ago...could it be stress? I am definitely relieved that others are having these same experiences, but I still want to know exactly why this is happening. It is becoming both increasingly annoying and slightly terrifying.

ok I dont how familiar you are with metaphysics.. but here is my explanation...The twitches that are happening throughout your body and mostly in or around your stomach are due to changes in your subconscious nature, your spirit, your soul as well as things that are connected to you in a subtle way but cannot be seen physically... Now there are changes that are constantly happening throughout the entire universe, the cosmos, and our solar system that most scientist cant even explain.. Now apparently what is happening is that the universe and the cosmos as well as our planet earth is changing its vibrational energy and frequencies to a higher level.. now this is important.. stuff like this Nasa would'nt tell you... however because of these universal events your spirit, your soul, and your body is adapting to these higher vibrational frequencies that are happening everwhere at one time....Your spirit resides at the base of your stomach.. and since your spirit is adapting to these higher vibrational frequencies.. this is more than likely causing the twitches in your stomach and throughout your body.. Now as these changes continue throughout the cosmos.. you yourself will also continue to experience wierd things happening in your body... but dont be scared or alarmed because this is a natural process for all physical material things throughout the universe including human beings....... Word of advice do not consider taking anykind of medications for something you are not diagnosed with!! Peace and Love!

I too have this problem but I'm a guy. Most of these posts seem to be for/about women. And my twitch is the lower part of my abdominal--a little bit left of center. The rest the same: not painful but annoying and can be physically seen or felt. Does anyone know what this could be for a 46 years old male? It's been off and on non stop for over a week...worse when sitting or lying down. A very spastic stitch.

Wow! I've had this problem for several years now and I didn't realize other people had it too. My doctor really couldn't tell me what it was but I did notice one interesting fact. I've had some back trauma in the past and it seems to be related to this even though it's in the front. I talked to a good chiropracter and he said that it is possible that back problems could cause muscles spams in the front. I'm around 210lbs and I've noticed over the years that when my back is doing ok, the muscle spasms in my solar plexus are minimal. But if I lift something heavy or strain my back, they come back. I worried about all the other reasons I could have the spasms and I'm not saying this is true for other people, but I'm going with this reason for myself...

I also have this twitching and it has also crossed my mind if it were due to a parasite. I will do a colon cleanse after I ween my son to see if that helps the matter. Thank you all for your posts, I thought I was the only one experiencing this odd visible twitching. I wish doctors would get on the ball with this issue.

If the pain is near your ribs (mine was just below my lower ribs) it could be an inflammation of the tissue around the ribs similar to costochondritis. I had this for over a year until I found a doctor who injected the cartilage with dozens of small cortisone injections all around the painful area. The pain got worse for a couple of days from the cortisone flare, then all pain went away completely and the problem was gone.

My son has had this for almost a year. He was hospitalized for almost a month. They diagnosed him with diaphragmatic flutter.
We have seen so many specialist and nobody knows how to fix him. Sometimes it could be a vitamin off balance or nerve damage due
to trauma. We are starting to think his is caused by the titanium implant in his leg. We will be heading to Boston Childrens hospital next month to see a doctor who had treated the spasms. He also gets knots in his back, acid reflux, and GERD.

1. This is most likely a part of an anxious personality, or stress from recent anxiety. May be on and off according to your anxiety level. Do you worry about things? if answer is yes, then most probably you are suffering from anxiety.

2. If it is the hot summer months, fluid and electrolyte loss due to sweating may cause these changes. Usually temporary, can be fixed by keeping hydrated and drinking milk (rich in calcium) and eating bananas (potassium replacement) along with some sports drink (restores other salt and minerals). Hopefully when you have got your right amount of electrolytes, fluid, and rest, the twitching will stop.

I believe these are likely causes, if it doesn't seem to fit in the above two, its better to consult a doctor.

I am a medical student, and had these twitching/ fasciculations all day, its probably because of the hot summer month and lots of sweating and electrolyte loss.
