i suffered pancreatis 10 years ago where i was a heavy drinker..weekend binges..but to be honest i think its down to luck..as everyboby realises that each others body acts differently..i have been drinking while on holiday and special occasions only, but i never touch spirits..beer only and some pina colada..but i would recomend that anyone who has suffered pancreatis just be careful.ive not had any pain when drinking but again im cautious..i think the 10 year abstinance has healed me a good bit..so in my opinion you can have a drink, but not excessive.

If you are getting pancreatitis that young you probably have a genetic/environmental predisposition to the illness. Therefore dont touch alcohol because it is probably particularly toxic in your case. You may have to ditch any drinking buddies.

I myself just was in the hospital for a pancreatic attack, was in about 4 days. They starved it, then liquid diet, then moved up. I quit drinking over 20 yrs ago. My question to all who still drink any kind of alcohol, why!? I have never felt so awful and so why do you want to feel bad by even only drinking a couple? You Dr. is very right as to no alcohol if you want to live, God Bless

I had pancreatitis and it's been three weeks now and I'm feeling good again... I had a couple glasses of wine the other day and felt fine. I do recommend that you do take it least three weeks cold turkey and if you can handle it drink in moderation not like you have in the past. Just do or eat what you like if you're body can handle it. God be with you and you're choices.

Three months ago i ended up in the icu with acute pancreatic pain from alcohol. I had eaten a huge dinner after being at the bar all day consuming bud on draft and a lot of shots called sh*t kickers made with pendelton and liquid ice. So anyways started getting severe upper abdominal pain so i poured a glass of crown on the rocks and before i knew it i was vomiting severly and on my hands and knee's. I have never felt pain like this ever and for me to go to the er is unheard of i have a very high pain tolerance. Long story short i got three days tons of fluids pain meds o2 ekg ultra sound for gall bladder levals of belyribbon and liver off the charts. Afyer day one pain gone the levals returned to normal. Was told to never drink again by doc havent since but am starting to struggle with that since all my friends drink and then others saying you can drink red wine or have beers its frustrating cause i really love beer. Am 50 and have only drank since 2013 before that i took 14 years off without a drop. Now know this i was drinking everyday all day and night but moestly beer. I was told by my doc that spirits and energy drinks have been leading to this sickness and have even taking the lives of teo 30 year olds in my community both had been

If you get pancreatitis so young you probably have a high risk of genetic/hereditary disease. Alcoholic pancreatitis is a long term alcoholics disease that presents in 40s. Do not use alcohol as you will exasperate the condition. Chronic pancreatitis symptoms can be mild or painless especially when hereditary. If you have hereditary pancreatitis then symptoms can be mild if you look after yourself. DON'T DRINK!!!!!!

I have years of alcohol abuse in my past. Unfortunately I did not quit in time. Every body is different. However I have had severe pain in my stomach for ten years now.
My opinion is to see a specialist. If I could go back in time I would have quit drinking completely. The doctors now keep on telling me it may be a few more years.
Signed someone that has cronic pancreatitus

Pancreatitis is extremely dangerous and nothing to play around with. My husband ONLY drinks beer.
Briefly, this is his nightmare story that he continues to live in denial of~

Driving home from work one summer afternoon in 2014, sober, he has a painful attack shoot through his back, he then looses consciousness, crosses into on- coming traffic, plows through a 6 ft chain link fence, hits a parked Vehicle, looses his bowels, throws up.....and is lucky someone is around to call paramedics.... because he is unconscious, still....he was in the hospital 7 days. That was the FIRST TIME. He told the Dr.'s he only drank one- two beers a day. He averages 12-18-24-36. depending on what his work schedule is. 12 is average on a work night. 36, on the weekend or, more.
He has been hospitalized four times, now. As I write this, he is in the hospital, not only dealing with severe pancreatitis but, he also has ruptured a blood vessel in his spleen. Over the course of the last 6 days they have gone in surgically to try and stop the bleeding...they have not been successful in finding were the actually bleeding is at. He now also, has a infection from the first surgery.
He told me that , when I first spoke with him, " he had a ruptured spleen. " He never tells me about the pancreatitis.
He did tell me he felt the Doctor " had a agenda or, something against him " I had to say, " Well, honey, it's the beer, your killing yourself. "
He got defensive, of course and hung up
I spoke with his Doctor today. This is LIFE THREATENING! He is STILL in denial. We are not together because of his DENIAL. I am not going to WATCH him kill himself.

I know FIRST hand how very difficult it is to stop drinking. Because I am a RECOVERING alcoholic. And, I am SO GRATEFUL***
Please take care of your body and mind ** You have know idea the miracles and simple pleasures life is made of, without alcohol.
One day, every day. I am blessed in recovery.
Hope this gives you some insight/help.

My first attack started in November of 2016. I have been drinking heavily since my early 20's and was 32 when it started. I quit smoking completely and quit drinking initially for a little over a month then started drinking again. Not as much as prior to the first attack, now drinking 3 times a week. In mid February I had my second attack. Milder in comparison. After this I quit for 6 weeks then started drinking again. Twice a week having about 6 beers. In April I had two very minor attacks. Lasting a couple days each. During this time I was barely drinking, twice a week. A few beers each time. Just recently, being June of 2017 I had another very mild flare up. Since then I haven't drank for going on two weeks and I plan on quitting indefinitely. I've come to learn that drinking will only lead to another flare up and your best case is quitting for years, or maybe forever.
