I know this is an old post but can you please tell me how everything turned out. I am in the same boat as you were and I am not sure what to do?

My baby is 1 month old now & he hasn't had any problems. I did find out that it can cause premature labor but I was induced at 39 weeks. I took my adderall until the last couple weeks pretty much every day

Let me know if u get this reply as i noticed the date said it was posted over a year ago...I have my Doctorates in pharmacy, with over ten yers of combined education...i am also on adderall and pregnant...first, you probably didnt do anyhing to cause this, nor did the adderall...early pregnancy complications happen all the time...to summarize the little research out there, adderall can cause low birth weight, pre-term birth, and possibly withdrawal for the baby after he is born...however, going off your adderal can cause massive amounts of weight gain during pregnancy leading you to gestational diabetes and pre-eclampsia which ae known to cause complications...new research is coming out showing these conditions may be more harmful than originally thought...just know this was a no win situation for you, AND IT WAS NOT YOUR FAULT.

Your largest risk is of possible miscarriage beyond that there is some of risk of cardiovascular abnormalities but nothing has actually been proven. The information they have is based off of animal testing.

I took adderall with my 2nd and 3rd pregnancies in the 1st trimester bec both were unexpected. My two pregnancies went fine and both little boys are healthy. Infact my 1st is the child with a learning and attention disorder and i hadn't started on adderall at all yet. That's just me. Ever one is different.

I took adderall 20 mg twice a day during my entire pregnancy and am currently pregnant again and still continuing to take it. I have a very healthy and smart 3 almost 4 year old daughter and a very healthy pregnancy (16 weeks) as we speak! If the doctor says its ok, it's OK! Don't stress yourself out, everything will be just fine:)

I am on my 4th pregnancy, have been taking adderall XR 30mgs once daily and also adderall fast acting 20mg once daily for 12 years for ADHD. I have taken it with all 4 pregnancies. My 6 year old is was 8lbs. 3oz and perfectly healthy, never had any health problems and is extremely intelligent. My 4 year old was 8lbs 13oz and has had no health concerns at all other than she has seasonal allergies and sometimes eczema (no way related to the adderall during pregnancy) and my 2 year old was completely healthy as well although he was  pre-tern due to having placenta prevera however he was still 6lbs 10oz and all my kids are perfect, beautiful healthy babies. I had no issues taking adderall with my first 3 and I'm also taking it with number 4 as well and am 11 weeks along now and ultrasound shows that baby looks good. measures perfect.

your POST was the best i've read thus far on this subject matter...

--i am curious to know your understanding of why not during the 1st trimester...?

i recently discovered that i am almost 7 weeks preg. and, stopped about 2 weeks ago since i thought i might be preg.

i've started a new job last week and was absolutly miserable... without the adderral. i used to only take 10mg/once a day.

today, i broke down and took the 10mg about 9.30am. i was seriously suffering from not having it, probably from being preg. too, but it was too hard to deal today. i felt instanly better!! it's now near 5pm and i'm getting hungry again... and, i know that i will eat a normal/healthy meal.

my new job is temp... and depending on my performance, they may make me perm. in the next 3 months. i now have health insurance and need to keep my job.

you said not to take during 1st trimester, so i will not. but...i just wanted to understand why exactly... thanks!

note: i'm in my 40s. and, i'm more nervous of what i could do to harm my unborn.

otherwise, i'm healthy, i exercise, except these last 2 weeks cuz i'm just too sick to move much. my OB even said not to road bike...?! but ok on a stationary bike... i guess if i fall off... but i know that i won't. also, the speed bumps i go over in my car at times are more then the roadbike... so other then falling off... whatelse could it be that is the concern...?

like we all say... we can't just stop everything... we'll go crazy, and lose our jobs, etc.

i come from a healthy family... so, i like to think i'm going to be ok...

but, since my age is a concern... what do i really need to eliminate... the adderral, the road bike... then, i'll lose my job and become a lathergic being...

I'm now 16 weeks pregnant. Again, 4th child and on adderall during all 4 pregnancies. I have 4 perfect kids. My 6 year old is a year younger than all the other kids in his first grade class and still got the highest grade on hissing assessment. My daughter who is in preschool can count twice as high as all the other kids in her.class. My two year old is really smart too. All adderall babies. My fourth pregnancy and I just saw a fetal maternal specialist, had another ultrasound, was tested for all the major disorders, once again, no problems, no concerns and the fetal maternal specialist said it was fine to continue taking the adderall if I needed it. Everyone is so negative about adderall during pregnancy but the truth is, it's a category C only because there are NO TEST STUDIES proving its not okay to use. They only have animal studies that were done on mice taking adderall and the results were: smaller litters......the mice who were on adderall had smaller babies than those not on adderall. My babies never had that problem. 8lbs 13 oz, 8lbs 3oz. and even my youngest who was 5 weeks premature was still 6lbs 10oz which is bigger than my husband was at birth who was 6lb 7oz and 40 weeks gestation. So really, I see no problem with adderall and pregnancy. If you can go without it, of course, go without it just to be safe. But if it's making your life more difficult to quit taking it, why make life harder when it isn't necessary? I have 3 perfect babies to prove it and have yet to hear one negative outcome from someone who tool adderall while they were pregnant. It's always the people who quit taking it that have the nightmare story about it.

They actually told me that the first trimester is usually the best to stop taking it but a lot of people don't even find out they are pregnant until half way through the first trimester and consume much worse things than adderall. They say that it's recommended to not take first trimester and that it becomes less of a risk in the second and third trimester but I took it the entire first trimester with all of my pregnancies and my kids were fine. I also nursed on it with my third child. He was a fussy baby where my other two did not fuss at all so I stopped nursing him an he stopped fussing. I think the adderall may have made his a bit fussy while nursing. It's metabolised differently through breastmilk than it is through the placenta so I think that nursing on it may be more of a potential "risk" or discomfort to the baby than taking it during pregnancy. Please note that I am a doctor's daughter and not the "organic" or "green" kind of mother. I think nothing wrong of the moms who are but I DO give my infants tylenol when teething and I do vaccinate them and I don't do the special wipes without the chemicals or whatever. I grew up thinking prescription drugs were normal to take and even a necessity at times. So my mentaiity towards taking prescripton drug is so different from many moms. I'm sure there are some moms out there who might even think I'm a bad mom for taking adderall while pregnant or for how I don't "safeguard" my kids from all these "potential risks" of life. Sorry.......my kids go through a gallon of milk a day and organic milk is twice as expensive. I'd rather give my kids a little tylenol that watch them suffer and suffer myself while they scream during the teething times. Call me crazy but that's been my choice as a parent and there's been nothing wrong with it thus far. I guess I've been blessed  because my entire family is healthy. Hope this helps any of you struggling with the choice of taking or not taking adderall during pregnancy.
