Hi. I have been taking Methadone for last two years and now I’m thinking about to try Suboxen, but I’m afraid of withdrawal symptoms. Can you tell me something more about Suboxen and give me some tips how to use it?
Hello! Probably you have to reduce your daily dose of Methadone at the minimum. Then you should ask your doctor to prescribe you Suboxen. I don’t know what your current dose is, but usually the current dose should be reduced on 30 mgs before starting Suboxen therapy. However, ask your doctor before you choose next drug. Good luck, mate!
Well i've been on suboxen for 6months...and it really saved my life... we had aman in group that was on the metadone and went to suboxen and he is doing really well... suboxen is better than the methadone.

Well first of all I must say that I have never been addicted to methadone but as a former... and current heroin user, I can tell you that heroin withdrawals are horrible. 3 days without drinkign water, 5 days without holding down food, and a week with ache's, pains, and sweats.
I have heard from other people and read on many websites that methadone withdrawal is actually worse than heroin withdrawal. From all this research I have learned that suboxone withdrawals are not as as intense as methadone.
My point being... go for the suboxone, but consult with your doctor and go to support groups.
I am plannin on goin to the doctor Monday. If I had a week to spare again I would go cold turkey but I have a job with which I can not be gone for that long.
Stay strong.

Just to let You know I am taking Suboxen. This drug is hands down a miracle drug. There are absolutely NO withdraws off of this medicine! Suboxen takes away your withdraws completly and has no side effects. Take it from someone who is experienced methodone IS NOT the way to go. Withdraws off of methadone is the worst thing to come off of. It is legal dope. My advice to you is to lower your methadone dosage and get on the Suboxen. It will be the best thing you can do with your life!!!!
My Husband is going today to ask his doctor sbout getting on suboxen. My question is how much does this drug coast?
well i just came from my detox appt. today for the first time at realization center in ny ny .and they gave me suboxen for the first time its great i feel good and their services are great there.its better than methadone and it works great.thanks and god bless stay clean. :-D
I just paid for suboxen twice this month...for my daughter.
the first Rx was $259.60 at walgreens. the second Rx was $343.44 at walgreens. The dose was increased in the second bottle. i don't know how many miligrams she takes..she is relatively new to the drug...taking about 6 weeks so far....but she is now taking it twice a day. Her insurance usually pays 80%....but her insurance was cancelled due to the fact that she was late with a payment for a secon time in a year. thank God we were able to appeal that decision and get the iinsurance reinstated.
I don't know if there are any government programs that would help handle the cost of suboxen. I was going to go looking if we couldn't get the insurance back. She is not on medicaid or medicare but buys High Riisk Heallth Insurance from the state of Wisconsin

If you are not already on methadone, please stay that way. The withdrawals of trying to get away from it have put me in an ambulence and in the hospital twice now just because I forgot to take it in time to avoid them. And you do NOT want to go through those withdrawals. Those two withdrawal periods in my life from methadone were THE two worst days of my entire life. Don't do it!! (I don't know if being on methadone temporarily would be the same or not. If I could go back myself, I wouldn't mess with it at all. Not even for a few days.)
:'( I know I have some ways to go, to be normal .I know the consequences, just taking it one day at a time.
Well, I am happy to hear that you all have had such great luck with suboxone, but I have not!!! I was on methadone for about five years. In April I quit taking it and then was prescribed suboxone. Yeah, in the beginning you feel great! Lots of energy, feel like you could do anything. You think all of your problems have been solved. Well, let me tell you, suboxone is just a lower dose of methadone. I have now been off suboxone for six weeks and still having severe withdrawals and they are getting worse instead of better. I have done a lot of research on suboxone and they say that the longer you are on it, the harder it is to get off it. It also has a very long half life so it stays in your system for a long time. I wish you all luck on getting off of it.

Hi, It takes courage to have the desire to come off any addiction. I took Methadone for a year and a half and I quit in May. To be honest with you it was hell for 9 days and the last to were the worst. I did things to help me during those days "opiates" and then I started the Suboxone. I am now at the stage were I'm coming off of Suboxone. All of a sudden the withdrawls were like night and day. Once you go through the 7-9 days of coming off Methadone and then you can start the Suboxone you will see a wolrd of a difference in your attitude and your outlook on life. I didn't have any withdrawls while I've been taking ths Suboxone. You can do it!!! Just bvelieve in yourself. Hope this helps. :) Kristi
Suboxone will help however, withdrawals will be the same. Don't let anyone tell you it's easy or that this is the "magic pill." It's great if you need it but withdrawals will be difficult. When you’re ready to stop using, ask your doctor for Valium and Klonopin. The Valium will help with sleep and the Klonopin will lower your blood pressure which will relieve some of the joint pain! Best of luck and stay focused on what you need to accomplish. You will be successful!!
well, i know that suboxen is called the miracle drug. the withdrawel effects from it..ppl always say its not that bad, but if u take it for months then try and stop, it gets bad. ive seen it first hand. its nothing i would wish on anyone but it isnt as bad as a withdrawel from other drugs like heroin. my boyfriend went to a doctor, paid $500.00 just for the first visit, the doctors that prescibe suboxen usually dont accept medical insurance, probably because they are doing somethiing almost illegal, but every month he has to pay $90.00 for the visit, and the prescription, if ur not lucky enough to have it covered with insurance, its usually about five to six dollars a pill, and at 100 pills per month, thats $600.00. compared to what u are spending doing drugs, im sure its somewhat a money saver. the doctor who prescribes suboxen has u stay on it as long as they think u need to, that could be years and years for all u know. when taking suboxen u have to go to monthly state required meetings through ur doctors office, and if u dont go, u get kicked out of the program, no matter how much money u pay. when ppl are on suboxen they seem to be in a better state of mind, but they arent truely themselves, i see it as just another drug replacing ur old drug, except that this one u can swallow, instead of smoke, snort or shoot. basically when u take this and arent willing to carry it out, u are just prolonging the whole detox situation. u think by taking this u wont get dope sick, but u do. eventually.
