There are no free rides in a world of duality, where everything has a reaction. Suboxen is no exception to the rule. To say there is no come down from suboxen only shows me that one who makes that assertion has not yet tried coming off it. Why do all suboxen programs then all implement a gradual decrease to come off of it? And also, contrary to popular belief, suboxen IS an opiod derivitive.
I have been taking suboxen for about two weeks now and am impressed with the results. I am not in awe of them however. And when I try to go longer than I am supposed to between pills I begin to experience discomfort. My own doctor told me I had to be weaned. I do not want to be on suboxen for more than 4 to 6 weeks and anyone who does is only replacing one addiction with another, no matter how seemingly benign. There are no free rides in life.
When I visit my doctor again on Monday I am going to ask him to begin reducing my dosage from three 8mg;2mg per day to perhaps 6mg per day. If the poster above really believes there is no withdrawal from suboxen let him/her try going a day or two without it and then post their comments here.
Now, having said all this, I still hope suboxen will give me more help than anything else I have ever tried and I wish the very best to each and every one of you. And, yes, it is true that methadone is the hardest of all the opioids to come off of. Take care.

There are NO miracle drugs - hands up or down. And there are withdrawals from suboxen just like from any opioid based drug. This is the reason why one must be tapered down by his physician. (If you doubt this then try going a day or two without your suboxen.) I am on suboxen for three weeks now and tried to wean myself too quickly and began to withdraw within hours of waking on the day I decided to begin halving my dosage.
As far as side effects, again I am sorry to say you are wrong. Many people experience side effects such as headache, sweats, some weakness, sexual impotence, constipation, etc. The good thing is that these side effects are nowhere near the pain of withdrawal from opioids.
It should also be remembered that staying on suboxen for an extended period of time is only replacing one drug with another and this type person/temperment is surely headed for a relapse. Counseling and attending NA meetings help one find the root cause of why they needed the escape they found in opiates to begin with. Suboxen will work only if one has a strong and determined mind to get clean and stay clean. It all begins...and ends...with the persons mental strength, not the temporary substitute.

Took vics, percs, and oxys for over 2 years, finally got myself on sub 2 years ago, started out at 24 mg a day, (too much!) Got myself down to 8 mg a day pretty quick, with in two weeks, stayed on 8 for a few months, tapered down to 4 for a few months, about a year ago I was down to 2 mgs a day and from there like 6 months and then to 1, for the past 6 months I have just been progressively chipping away at them smaller and smaller each week so I couldn't even say what mg i was taking, at the end, like 3 weeks ago the chips were so small they were hard to pick up and I litteraly had to scoop it up with my fingernail, and it would melt in my mouth almost immediately, started doing that once every 2-3 days instead of every day. Today is my 6th day off of the sub and truth be told, it is nothing compared to withdrawal from the other stuff, but it is still no picnic, and for the first time in two years I am craving for the other stuff and that sucks. I have been able to sleep, but only 3-4 hrs at a time, I am restless, a bit depressed, I think the worst of it is the diareah I've been having for the past few days that is progressively getting worse. Just curious if anyone else has had a similar experience? I want this crapping to go away, its becoming a major nusiance. Otherwise I feel ok, this was very do-able, but too long in coming, I wish I would have tapered faster than two years. Good luck to everyone getting off, it's not too bad if you don't jump right off.
AS AN INPATIENT FOR 10 DAYS, I FELT CLEAN FROM GET GO, BUT STAYED FOR A TIME JUST TO KEEP ME AWAY FROM IT. ITS A GOOD SOUND CHOICE. SUBOXONE DOES WORK AS YOU HAVE HEARD.
To all those who have posted advice regarding suboxen, please keep your opinions to yourself. Unless you know what your talking about it is best not to say anything at all. I'm sure you have good intentions but many of the messages I just read are completely untrue. Suboxen is very effective for detox however if you are on it as a maintenance drug it is just as hard to get off as methadone, maybe worse. I have been on it for 2 years now and would have been off it 1 year and half ago if I knew then what I know now. If anyone can offer some crediable advice on how to detox off suboxen w/o a nighmare of a time please share.
i had been on kadian (morphine sulfate) 100mg extended release capsules 1 every 12hrs for 8 months, also i would take 2 10/325 hydrocodones for breakthrough pain. i hated myself, family and friends. and just was tired of who i became on the drugs. i finally got to have my microdiscecotmy for my ruptured disc. the surgery was on april 30, 07 and now i'm totally off my drugs.. after about 2 weeks, after surgery, my pain was still pretty high, i tried missing some pills for a couple of days and decided that the pain was just my addiction for my pills. so i talked to my doctor about weening me off my kadian. he changed my dose from 100mg 2/day to 80mg 2/day for about week, then to 60mg 2/day again for a week, then 30mg 2/day week, i got sick of this taking so long, i was still pretty much an ass to everyone. so at this point i quit taking them all together. i was ok for about 2 days and then it all hit me. the next 13 days i was sick, puking, diahrea, cramping joint pain migrains, and anything else that just felt like the flu. i was able to control my cravings for the morphine with the hydrocodone... i only took limited myself to 1/2 of a 5/325 1 every 4 hrs. that was just enough to get me through my symptoms, it relieved the nausea feeling, and alot of the other symptoms that i was feeling. i felt like c**p for only 13 day, then after that, most of my symptoms went away, except for the afternoon migrains, sneezing and coughing. it's been 1 1/2 months now. i feel better and only taking ibuprofen 800mg for some joint pain in my knees. that should go away with time... overall the doctor said that i would take 2-3 weeks for the physical symptoms to go away, and up to 12 weeks for the mental symptoms (wanting more morphine), joint pain, and headaches to go..... if i had followed the doctors instructions i'd still be on drugs, 13 day of being really sick is better then prolonging it any longer.
good luck

This information about ending up in an ambulance and hospital through forgetting to take your dose on time is absolute rubbish. One of the reasons the drug is so difficult to withdraw from is because its half life is so long. This means it takes a long time to become completely absorbed so you will most definitely not become a hospital case through forgetting to take your dose on time. You would have to miss doses for 3 or 4 days before becoming substantially ill. Misinformation helps nobody. Anybody considering methadone treatment should give it a wide berth - it is a horrible drug that keeps you trapped for years and, if you are working is virtually impossible to get off because you remain ill for so long.
I dunno if anybody will see this or not. Some of the posts here are from 05 so im kinda throwin this out in the wind.I was addicted to Oxycontin for 2 years and bad.I was crushin and snorting anywhere from 120mgs to 180mgs a day.Yes..it was very expensive.I lost my home because of it after payin a mortgage for 12 years it was all gone.I've been thru the worst withdrawls imaginable. It was so bad.i could snort an 80mg Oxy in the a.m. and by the p.m.(if i didnt have another pill) i was already feeling it bad.Im sure that a big part of it was mental but regardless.I was hurtin. So,this went on for 2 years..good days (w/pills) and bad days(w/out).I finally said enuff.I put my name on the list at the local methadone clinic and i was called in in about 3 days.Really quick after talkin to some of the people there who were on the list for 2 months. They started me at 30mgs,next day 40mgs,next day 50mgs.I stayed at 50mgs for about 18 months. They busted me on a UA for cannabanoids and took my take homes away(i was goin once a week instead of everyday except sunday). So I requested to detox(afterall im not there for marijuana use).I'm now at 25mgs im comin down 5 mgs every 2 weeks.I can feel the withdrawls in the early morning hours comin on but very very mild.My wife tried suboxen and she has got off the suboxen in less time than i spent on this methadone. She has a bottle of about 93-8mg suboxen tabs. Can I take these and quit goin to the clinic (ive heard it will cause extreme withdrawl symtoms)So im reaching out here..can i take the suboxen to get off methadone without screwin up..or do i keep goin to the clinic everyday and payin the extra 20bux on top of the normal fees for dirty drug screens? Because i will continue to smoke the weed. Please..only respond if you know what you are talking about..thank you

Just to let You know I am taking Suboxen. This drug is hands down a miracle drug. There are absolutely NO withdraws off of this medicine! Suboxen takes away your withdraws completly and has no side effects. Take it from someone who is experienced methodone IS NOT the way to go. Withdraws off of methadone is the worst thing to come off of. It is legal dope. My advice to you is to lower your methadone dosage and get on the Suboxen. It will be the best thing you can do with your life!!!!
.................
THE ABOVE STATEMENT IS ONLY HALF TRUE.YES,SUBOXEN IS A MIRACLE.BUT,YOU WILL HAVE WITHDRAWS FROM SUBOXEN THEY JUST WONT BE AS BAD AS METHADONE OR DOPE,OXY'S.

So I'm doing methadone, oxy's and/or hydromorphone, whichever is available. I've had enough. A friend has allowed me 45 of her suboxon considering she isnt ready to quit. So i'm waiting until i get sick, hopefully in about 8 hours more, i will then take my first suboxon and hope for the best. I will write back and let you all know of the results, all I know is that I can't take this addiction any longer.
Been on 32mg x 3 times a day for 2 years taking suboxone. Today is day 12 and never once experienced withdrawals (maybe a mild runny nose from time to time). I guess I am one of the lucky ones....

I have now experienced withdrawal from suboxen personally. I weaned myself down from 32 mg. a day to 6 mg. before stopping and I suffered badly for 8 days! True. Not told to me by anyone - MY experience. There are NO miracle drugs when it is time to pay the piper. Suboxen is wonderful for leaving other drugs but it, too, must be left and it is NOT easy.

I have been on Suboxen since 2005 I am currently taking 2 -8 mg tabs a day this is going on for what almost 3 years, Well any ways I am now taking subatex because i am having a baby,. Well I would really like to get off subatex and completly be drug free i dont like depending on pills why i started i dont know i was taking Loratabs then i got on suboxen to get off tabs now what the hell do i do to get off subatex? there are withdrawels no matter what any ones says THese Withdrawel symptoms are just the same as withdrawels from any pain killer. In four months my doctor is cutting me down to 1 pill i tries cutting myself down but no success. I guess some one just has to be very strong in the mind and soul. If u can handle the withdrawels then i guess u can quit me on the other hand cant do it i tried. I have kids, a household, job to tend to i cant afford to be in the withdrawel mode right now.
I have been on Suboxone for 3 years and have stopped taking it several times when I ran out. That was awful. I am now on day 3 of no suboxone after weening down to 1mg a day. I just feel really lethargic, but not too sick. I am just waiting for it to hit me. I read about Benadryl helping so I tried that last night to sleep. Worked great.
Thanks

I have detoxed off both and had to switch from the methadone back to the H because the methadone was too much. it takes 2-3 days before the done is out of your system and you are comming off more chemicals where the H, if you are getting anything decent is a more pure substance. mentally they both suck but i will take a heroin withdrawell over a methadone with drawel any day. good luck to all and try to stay strong...
