what about going out? like for nye i want to go clubbing. it will be exactly 3 weeks after my op! and smoking too! i really want a cigarette i haven't had one yet.
Haha, "I only took 2 doses of pain medication and drank alcohol right after my tonsillectomy. Man up" You are an id**t. Adults run a higher risk of post operative bleeding and alcohol thins your blood. You should wait at least two weeks.
I was wondering the same thing. I had mines taken out 3 weeks ago and today is my 21st birthday and I'm not sure whether it is safe to drink tonight or not....
Hey man do you know if that's normal I had mine taken out and my adnoids and now when I rinse my mouth water starts coming out my nose I'm kinda worried not sure If that should be happening
Lol your the only one I wanna listen to so thanks!
I am 17 I got drunk day 10 post op I was worried but I made sure I had no painkillers the day I had alcohol and pretty much the day before. This didn't ulter my recovery at all btw I had huge tonsils and adenoids. Hope this helps (:
Hi, not really an answer but i havnt found a difinitive answer for smoking or drinking after the operation how many days people?cheers.
No joke the worst Pain I've ever had its horrific
I'm an 18 yr old female. I had a scheduled tonsillectomy for March 26th 2014, one week after my surgery I went out with my friends to a party and had taken literally one drink of alcohol, hours later my tonsils started to bleed. My best friend had to drive a half hour to the nearest hospital. When I arrived to the hospital I had no waiting, I was rushed into a room, they then had called the throat surgeon on call and he rushed to the hospital at 4:30am, I was bleeding so heavy I couldn't tilt my head back for him to look in my mouth. He had seen how much blood I lost and told the nurses to prep me for the or. I was scared for my first surgery, at this point however I was so happy he was taking me back into surgery because I was so sick of what I was going threw. They had to pump my stomach, from how much blood I swallowed... 300ccs of blood was found in my stomach, an I needed a blood transfusion. One week Exctally (again) after my emergency surgery, I was sitting at home and they bled again( not from drinking) I was rushed to the er again, they had called in the doctor once more and he rushed (again) to the hospital. I had eaten something about two hours before I went to er, (they couldn't operate right away because I ate) I was admitted to the hospital and was under severe watch. I was his first surgery that morning. I now have stitches. I needed my stomach pumped once more (100cc's of blood in my stomach) I was 118 pounds for my first surgery, I'm now 103 pounds, 3 surgeries in the short amount of time really wore out my body. This is my senior year in high school and I'm missing my prom and all my activities with my friends. So I had I pretty rough surgery, all from a little sip of alcohol. I NEVER want to go threw that again. And I'm sick of laying in my bed and watching movies and not eating!
Same deal on my end, I had a beer on day 6 post op and it went down pretty smooth.
20th bday, no you should not be drinking any alcohol regardless of the tonsillectomy because you all are UNDERAGE.
Drinking wine 6 days after surgery was fine. However after 1 glass my throat started to become a bit sore. If you want to drink go for it, just stop if you feel any pain
That's quite ignorant. Telling people it's okay to drink without any knowledge of what could happen is very dangerous. It is not a good idea, but if you must, do not have any hydrocodine or Oxy in you're system at all. In some cases if you don't take care of yourself it could even be fatal!
Yeah without your tonsils your not used to all that space so your soft pallet has to adjust and your uvula will move differently... Speech therapy will help well it helped me
