This was a response from a credible source on Yahoo! Answers. I'd advise against using baby oil, especially cooking oil since it is in no way, shape, or form water soluble. I came here wondering the same and got my question answered quickly.
Moral of the story: Go buy lube from the store. It's safe. Using household oils isn't.
