I would like to get some info about Angiplasty procedure. I just had my EKG done yesterday and the results are not so bright. There are some abnormalities and doctor suggested angioplasty. I am concerned about this procedure. I have had chest pressure and some pain for almost six months now, I am afraid that Angiplasty might only worsen my condition.
These types of examination procedures are always used to determine what is actually going on in the patient's heart and its blood vessels. As for the procedure itself, there are several things you should know. You must not eat or drink night before the procedure. You should bring all your medications with you and inform the doctor if you already suffer from some illness. You might be sedated, but without total anesthesia. Basically, the catheter will be inserted in your heart, monitoring its condition. The entire procedure lasts for about one hour.
