I have been in a relationship for 8 months now, and I have not had full sexual intercourse, I am however sexually active. Last month I got what seemed to be my period for the normal 8 days. Two days ago was the day 14 in my cycle. Yesterday I noticed pink discharge, and although my boyfriend and I had not done anything since before my last period, I still tend to become paranoid no matter how careful we are. Today, I asked him to wear a condom before he rubbed his penis around my vaginal area. There was no penetration, and although there was pre-ejaculatory fluid, he was wearing the condom properly. I am asking for help because I am not sure why just after this happened I experienced "spotting" again, I don't think I can be pregnant and I feel some relief knowing that we did not have sex and he was wearing a condom. I have been under a lot of stress lately, and I am wondering if that is the cause of this small amount of blood or if it could be simply from ovulating or maybe implantation bleeding. So where is it coming from? and what is the chance of becoming pregnant from the activity we did have today even with the use of the condom?

Good news: You're not pregnant. In order for you to conceive you would need penetration even though the pre-cum is very potent it cannot make it's way to the egg unless it is released past the vaginal opening. Stress can definitely be the cause of the spotting what I suggest is take a day to yourself stress free and see how things are afterwards.

One thing you don’t have to worry about now is pregnancy because there really wasn’t no chance at all that you gotten pregnant by doing what you described. Occasional spotting is also thing that happens to every woman once in a while, regardless of pregnancy or whatever. I’m pretty sure you experienced ovulation spotting – that one happens around the middle between your two cycles and is absolutely nothing to worry about. Also, small irritations during sex can cause spotting. And definitely this wasn’t implantation bleeding – that kind of spotting happens when you are pregnant exactly when you were supposed to get your period. This is bright red bleeding that lasts just a few hours – you spotted too early for this.

Thanks for responding. I have peace of mind now about the pregnancy issue and although I'm still anxious, it's because I have a few more weeks before I can expect my period. To be honest right now my concern is a possible infection down there. But after doing research I'm trying to take care of it. But the cramping and spotting I experienced and pregnancy were my main concerns. And if you both say I cannot be pregnant, then I am very relieved. I am planning on being more careful in the future should something else happen. I am also happy to know the spotting, that has not continued since the last time I posted my question, was probably from stress or ovulation. I was only concerned because it is the first time I had experienced mid-cycle spotting. Again, I appreciate the responses and knowing that I cannot be pregnant and if this is an infection, I am getting it taken care of. Thank you
